May Bay Waterfall is located in La Da commune, just 2 km from Ham Thuan - Da Mi hydroelectric reservoir and National Highway 55, making it quite convenient for many tourists to visit. The scenery is picturesque, the air is fresh, and the water is clean from the underground springs of millions of forest trees.
In early January, I joined a group of adventure tourists from Ho Chi Minh City to La Dạ. The group, led by Mr. Nguyen Van Binh, was exploring the May Bay Waterfall. The group consisted of 30 people, mostly young adults aged 22-32, who enjoy discovering new and unspoiled tourist destinations. The road to the waterfall is divided into two sections: the first, about 1 km from National Highway 55 at the Gió và Mây (Wind and Cloud) rest stop, is accessible by motorbike; the second section is a hilly, mountainous road still covered in primary forest, requiring a walk. It was springtime, so the road to the waterfall was in full bloom, with white wildflowers emitting a gentle fragrance that seemed to guide visitors.
About 500 meters from the waterfall, we saw the majestic waterfall cascading down in a white stream amidst the green forest. Upon reaching the waterfall, we found about 300 visitors enjoying the pristine scenery and the awe-inspiring beauty of the waterfall nestled in the untouched mountains and forests, with food laid out on the rocks. At the foot of the waterfall was a crystal-clear pool with a depth of 1-3 meters. The surface was calm, only rippling gently when the forest breeze blew, making it ideal for visitors who are good swimmers. Schools of fish swam playfully beneath the water's surface, a delightful sight. Although the May Bay Waterfall has 12 tiers, from the base you can only see 3-4 tiers, each about a few dozen meters high, with the rest of the waterfall's source hidden within the green forest.

Mr. Nguyen Van Binh said that he learned about May Bay Waterfall from friends in June 2024. In 2025, he and his group camped there for 10 days to explore . However, due to the waterfall's height and steepness, the group only explored up to the 7th level. Exploring the remaining 5 levels requires a longer route, so more time is needed. Mr. Mai Van Minh, Director of Da Mi Tourism Company, the first person to introduce May Bay Waterfall to tourists, said: During the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, more than 1,000 visitors registered for a trip to May Bay Waterfall. Most visitors enjoyed swimming, climbing the waterfall, and camping very much...
Mr. Nguyen Minh Phuong, Secretary of the La Da Commune Party Committee, stated: The Resolution of the First Party Congress, term 2025-2030, identifies one of the key tasks and breakthroughs as the decisive implementation of solutions to remove bottlenecks in land and planning to attract investment in tourism development in the commune. La Da has the advantage of a year-round cool and pleasant climate, not too cold. Its pristine and majestic natural landscape, including the 9-tiered waterfall, the 12-tiered May Bay waterfall, and the vast Ham Thuan lake (over 2,500 hectares), attracts a large number of tourists annually.
With its current natural scenery, topography, climate, and potential, coupled with the decisive involvement of the local Party committee and government, it is believed that the La Dạ area will become a worthwhile tourist destination in the near future.
