The song was criticized as a disaster.

The rap segment in the song "A Brand New Vietnam" by the girl group V.STAR is causing a stir on social media. A post on Threads, which has garnered over 10,000 likes and more than 5,000 shares, commented: "It feels like they had five different AI voices write the lyrics and then put them together to create the song."

The controversial rap segment features wordplay and repeated phrases: “Brand new Vietnam - ding - ding - ding/ Sparkling lights - ding - ding - ding/ Shaking footsteps - ding - ding - ding/ Boom boom sound - EDM burning your heart/ Thirty-four provinces of a brand new Vietnam - ding - ding - ding/ Thirty-four new provinces, beautifully sparkling - ding - ding - ding”…

Many listeners called it a disastrous song, with awkward and forced lyrics, inferior to Chat GPT.

' Heart-burning EDM'? I don't understand what you're singing,” “Another disastrous song,” “Music is diverse, I don't like this song, but it's 2025, why is this young group making a music video that's worse than a street dance group's?”, “Everyone's outfits are different, the lyrics are worse than Chat GPT, the choreography and lighting are chaotic. Even though the title is about Vietnam, what you're showing in this MV is just repetitive dialogue…” viewers commented.

New girl group V.STAR.

This music video was released by the group V.STAR to welcome the country's renewal and international integration. The members rap to celebrate the 34 new provinces and cities across the country, stretching from North to South. The controversial song was composed by Dinh Quang Minh and Henry T.

Besides the rap segment, the opening and chorus were also criticized by the audience as being "uninspired" and naive, such as: "A brand new Vietnam is waking up / Sunlight sparkling on the treetops," "Bright smiles, big dreams / This land greets, hands waving... / Living together, singing in harmony...".

The group's music video style is inspired by Kpop's Studio Choom. This type of video emphasizes the dance performance, with a plain background whose color changes using lighting, combined with artistic camera angles. However, "A Brand New Vietnam" has been criticized for its chaotic lighting, which can strain the eyes of viewers.

Who is V.STAR?

V.STAR is currently the youngest girl group in Vpop, consisting of five members: Nguyen Ngoc Cat Tuong (16 years old), Ta Ngoc Tram Anh (15 years old), Thai Bang Anh (17 years old), Truong Hao Dong (14 years old), and Vu Thy Ngoc Diep (14 years old). They debuted to the public in early November. The girls were selected from a talent search competition organized by VMT Entertainment in August, under the guidance of the winner of the 2014 Television Singing Contest - Minh Trang Lyly.

The management company stated that the members possess good singing and dancing abilities. The five girls can play musical instruments such as guitar, piano, and drums, and Nguyen Ngoc Cat Tuong previously spent two years training in South Korea.

Besides "A Brand New Vietnam ," the group released an audio album including the songs: "We are V.STAR," "Thank You Parents," "Even a single word from a teacher is worth more than one word from a teacher ," and " Going to the Mekong Delta to Play."

Some viewers believe the production team is trying to create controversy to attract media attention. Before "A Brand New Vietnam," many songs had already risen to prominence because of their "nonsense and bland" lyrics, such as "Pickleball" by Do Phu Qui, "Deceitful Butterfly" by Phi Phuong Anh, and "Oh My Banana" by Si Thanh...

After 10 days since its release, the song has garnered over a million views, and the number is rapidly increasing due to controversy. The music video has received an overwhelming number of dislikes, reaching 11,000, while the number of likes is only 1,400. Some viewers regret that the group, with its many young members and opportunities for growth, has received such negative feedback on their debut product.
