Ta Trach Lake begins to regulate water through deep sluice gates and hydroelectric plants with a flow rate of 170-270 m³/s.

Irrigation and hydroelectric reservoirs now have plans to proactively operate safely the works and downstream areas according to heavy rain scenarios. From this evening (October 16) to October 19, on the rivers in the Hue City area, there is a possibility of a flood warning level 1 to 2.

On the afternoon of October 16, the Hue City Civil Defense Command announced that it had issued an order to increase the flow rate of Huong Dien Hydropower Reservoir on the Bo River to cope with heavy rain. Accordingly, Huong Dien Hydropower Reservoir was ordered to increase the water discharge rate from 600 m³/s to 1,000 m³/s, starting from 4:30 p.m. the same day to proactively receive floods and ensure the safety of the entire dam and downstream areas.

At noon on October 16, the Irrigation Investment and Construction Management Board 5 ( Ministry of Agriculture and Environment ) announced that Ta Trach Lake began regulating water through the deep discharge gate and the hydroelectric plant with a flow rate of 170-270 m³/s. Regulation began at 4:00 p.m. the same day.

Previously, Binh Dien Hydropower Company adjusted the discharge flow through the spillway and turbine of this hydropower reservoir from 120-200 m³/s, starting from 2:00 p.m. on October 15.

Warning of landslide risk on mountainous slopes

The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hue City has prepared reservoir operation scenarios for forecasted rainfall levels of 100-200 mm, with some places over 300 mm, to proactively operate inter-reservoirs when heavy rain occurs. Irrigation and hydroelectric reservoirs in the city operate safely, ready to reduce flooding for downstream areas when there is heavy rain.

According to the City Hydrometeorological Station, the water level on rivers in the area is currently fluctuating and is at approximately BĐ1. From this evening (October 16) to October 19, there is a possibility of a flood on rivers in the Hue City area, with the flood peak on the Huong River and Bo River reaching BĐ1 to BĐ2, and the O Lau and Truoi rivers reaching 1.8 - 2.2m.

The Hue City Civil Defense Command warns of a high risk of flooding in low-lying areas along rivers, urban areas in the city and flash floods and landslides on steep slopes in mountainous areas.
