The admirable background and education of Mr. Hoang Nam Tien

Mr. Hoang Nam Tien was born in 1969, his hometown is Nghe An . He is the youngest son of Major General, Hero of the People's Armed Forces Hoang Dan (1928 - 2003) and his wife - National Assembly delegate Nguyen Thi An Vinh (1933 - 2022).

Mr. Hoang Nam Tien once confided that at the age of 18, despite being the class monitor of the specialized Math class at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, he failed the university entrance exam.

"I don't understand why I failed the exam. I still remember the first time I failed the exam, I told my father that I wanted to become a pilot. Actually, at that time I had a real love for this job," Mr. Hoang Nam Tien once shared.

At that time, Major General Hoang Dan knew his son's plan so he simply said: "You can become a pilot if you want, but you have to pass the university entrance exam. Where you fall, you have to stand up."

Listening to his father, Mr. Hoang Nam Tien continued to practice and study. The following year, he passed the university entrance exam with excellent results, majoring in Information Technology at Hanoi University of Science and Technology. This was the beginning of his future career related to computer science .

In 1993, Mr. Hoang Nam Tien joined FPT Corporation, holding many leadership positions in the corporation such as General Director of FPT Hoa Lac High-Tech Park Development Company Limited (2007 - 2012), General Director of FPT Distribution Company Limited (2003 - 2008), and in 2011, Mr. Tien held the position of Chairman of FPT Software.

Mr. Hoang Nam Tien was elected Chairman of FPT Telecom from March 3, 2020. Since then, he has led FPT Telecom to overcome the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the period 2020 - 2022, this network operator's revenue increased from 11,466 billion VND to more than 14,700 billion VND. Profit after tax also grew from more than 1,600 billion VND to over 2,250 billion VND.

Leaving FPT Telecom, in 2023, Mr. Tien took on a new role as Vice Chairman of the FPT University Council. He is expected to help FPT Education take many new steps in the future as a leader with many bold ideas, as well as making contributions to career guidance and support for the younger generation.

Since then, Mr. Hoang Nam Tien has appeared as a speaker at many seminars, loved by everyone with many inspirational presentations for the young startup community in the country.
