Emotional farewell ceremony for teacher Le Ba Khanh Trinh, 4 PhDs sing 'The Exciting Youth'

On the evening of July 28, the Gifted High School held a ceremony to honor Dr. Le Ba Khanh Trinh and Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hung before their retirement. Mr. Vu Hai Quan, Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University, attended and presented commemorative medals to the two doctors.

At the ceremony, for the first time, all four doctors, Le Ba Khanh Trinh, Tran Nam Dung, Nguyen Thanh Hung, and Dao Duy Nam, played and sang the song "The Exciting Youth". This is a Russian song - the country where the four doctors studied.

Among them, Dr. Le Ba Khanh Trinh and Dr. Tran Nam Dung studied at Moscow State University; Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hung studied at Lipetsk State Pedagogical University; Dr. Dao Duy Nam studied at St. Petersburg University of Electrotechnical Engineering.

After graduating, all four of them worked for a long time at the Gifted High School, the University of Natural Sciences , and the National University of Ho Chi Minh City in many different positions. But they spent their youth studying and living together and later became colleagues and working brothers.

“Mr. Le Ba Khanh Trinh and Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hung are two legends of the Gifted High School. Their names are associated with the brilliant achievements of the 'iron fist' named Math - IT of the Gifted High School and more than that, the achievements of the Vietnamese team participating in the IMO and IOI competitions.

Mr. Trinh has left the position of Head of the Math Group since March 2025 and Mr. Hung will leave the position of Head of the IT Group since August 2025. However, with their love for students and the love for gifted high schools, both will continue to accompany the school as advisors and in the work of nurturing excellent students," said Dr. Tran Nam Dung, Vice Principal.

According to Dr. Dung, he has been with Dr. Khanh Trinh since 1984 and with Dr. Thanh Hung since 1995. The numbers are enough to show a bond and understanding. They are seniors who have guided, mentored, and supported him a lot in his work.

According to Dr. Nam Dung, the reason they played and sang the song “The Exciting Youth” together was to remember their own vibrant youth. That was the youth when they lived, studied, grew up together and later became colleagues and brothers.
