Previously, on September 28, two German tourists, Mr. Winzing Moritz Wolfram and Ms. Waidner Kathrin Sophie, were trekking independently in Hoang Lien National Park. Due to heavy rain and thunderstorms, the road was difficult to follow, so the two moved very slowly, repeatedly sending their location coordinates and requesting emergency assistance from the rescue team.

Based on the lost signal information at 4:56 p.m. on September 28, leaders of Hoang Lien National Park, along with the Forest Ranger forces, Hoang Lien Tourism and Wildlife Conservation Center, coordinated with Ta Van commune authorities to deploy a rescue plan.

The first search team set off on the evening of September 28, but due to storms and rising stream water, they could not reach the location where the tourist got lost.
On the morning of September 29, the second group consisting of many forces: forest rangers, militia, Ta Van commune police, Sin Chai village people, Fansipan cable car medical team and Sa Pa ward fire prevention, firefighting and rescue police continued on their way.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Thang - Vice Chairman of Ta Van Commune People's Committee said: The search team has fully prepared tools and vehicles, has a specific plan to ensure safety, and at the same time mobilized local people who are familiar with the area, have the ability to use positioning devices and communicate in English to participate in support.
At around 11:00 a.m. on September 29, the rescue team found two tourists in sub-area 274, plot 4, lot 2 of Hoang Lien National Park, about 3 km of forest road from the 2,200 m Rest Stop (Fansipan mountain climbing route).
Both are safe, in good health and in good spirits. After reaching them, the rescue team brought the two tourists down the mountain safely.

Mr. Pham Minh Duc - Deputy Director of Hoang Lien Tourism and Wildlife Conservation Center, a member of the search team, shared: The search work encountered many difficulties due to heavy rain, fast-flowing streams, and dangerous forest roads.

Previously, to respond to storms No. 9 and No. 10, The People's Committee of Sa Pa Ward has issued a document requesting tourism businesses and travel companies to temporarily suspend all sightseeing, picnic, mountain climbing and exploration activities; review and move tourists away from dangerous areas, prepare evacuation plans when necessary; at the same time, promptly disseminate and inform tourists to comply with regulations and ensure safety.
Sa Pa ward authorities and Hoang Lien National Park recommend that people and tourists do not climb mountains or trek in the forest without a guide.
