By the end of August 2025, the Buon Ma Thuot Investment and Construction Project Management Board (under the Dak Lak Provincial Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Project Management Board) had completed the installation of hundreds of street name signs and street name signs with integrated QR code scanning on several main roads such as: Le Duan Street (from the central six-way intersection to the Vo Nguyen Giap intersection); Tran Hung Dao Street (from Phan Chu Trinh Street to Nguyen Tat Thanh Street); and Nguyen Tat Thanh Street (from the central six-way intersection to the Km3 roundabout).

The new street signs are designed with dimensions of 750 x 400 x 20mm, using aluminum alloy with a decal background and double-sided reflective lettering. The content displayed on the signs includes: street name, building boundary information, and a QR code with a blue reflective decal. In the left corner of each new street sign is the logo of Buon Ma Thuot City with the theme “Buon Ma Thuot - The Destination of World Coffee”. The base of the street sign is cast from aluminum painted in an ebony color, with the Buon Ma Thuot City logo painted in gold in the center, creating a look that is both classic and modern.

According to the Buon Ma Thuot Investment and Construction Project Management Board, the project to install street name signs in the former Buon Ma Thuot City includes the installation of 36 sets of street name signs with QR codes (34 double posts and 2 single posts). In addition, the project will install more than 200 additional street name signs in accordance with Resolution No. 06/2024/NQ-HĐND dated June 20, 2024, of the 10th term of the Dak Lak Provincial People's Council, aiming to create a new, civilized, and modern appearance for Buon Ma Thuot city. The project has a total investment of over 3.2 billion VND; it will be implemented from April 2025 and completed in August 2025.

People can look up information using the QR code on the street sign at the intersection of Le Duan and Y Ngong streets.

According to the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot ward, the highlight of the project to install street name signs in the former Buon Ma Thuot city is the information integrated into the QR code on each street name sign.

Specifically, people can use their smartphones to scan QR codes to look up information related to historical figures and events associated with the street names. In addition, these QR codes also provide directions, map access, and the ability to share relevant addresses. The figures whose QR codes appear on street signs include national leaders, famous figures, and heroes such as Nguyen Tat Thanh, Le Duan, Tran Hung Dao, Vo Nguyen Giap, Nguyen Du, Chu Van An, or intellectuals and leaders of the Ede ethnic group such as Ama Jhao, Ama Khe, Y Bih Aleeo, Y Ngong…

Upon completion, the new street signs attracted considerable attention from locals, especially young people and tourists. Mr. Nguyen Nam Khanh, from Tuy Hoa ward, was particularly interested in learning about history by scanning the QR codes on the street signs in Buon Ma Thuot ward. Mr. Khanh expressed: “This is my first time visiting Buon Ma Thuot, the coffee capital. I'm always curious and excited to learn about the history and the heroes and leaders of the Central Highlands. Walking along each street, I feel like I'm turning the pages of an interesting and useful history book.”

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Vu, Chairman of the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot Ward, said: The project to install street name signs in the old Buon Ma Thuot City aims to create a new look, in line with urban beautification towards a green, clean, beautiful, and civilized direction, and to promote digital transformation. The project not only meets the needs for transportation and information access but also contributes to building the unique cultural identity of Buon Ma Thuot – a world coffee destination.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Vu added that, in addition to information about historical figures and events, the new street signs also provide information about the road's planning, such as building boundaries, road width, median strips, and sidewalks. This information helps people understand the planning and consciously comply with regulations when constructing buildings and houses. This is also a solution that helps local authorities manage urban order and construction order more effectively and conveniently.
