According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development , currently, 42/63 provinces nationwide raise swiftlets with over 22,000 swiftlet houses. Vietnam's bird's nest output is about 150 tons. Since the beginning of the year, businesses have continuously increased export orders, as well as strengthened links and investments with people to develop the swiftlet flock.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duong, Chairman of the Vietnam Animal Husbandry Association, said: "We must consider bird's nest as a livestock, complying with the regulations in the Animal Husbandry Law. Raising here is not farming but controlled exploitation, then we can maintain and develop it. The bird's nest house system must have sufficient conditions, bird's nest products must be standardized and regulated. We must do so to affirm the national brand of Vietnamese bird's nest."
Vietnam has classified bird's nest as one of the special livestock products. Over the past 10 years, Vietnam has implemented many policies to promote the development of the bird's nest industry and the goal of reaching a billion USD is not too far away.
In the near future, in addition to exporting enterprises, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will also provide technical training to farmers to ensure traceability, food hygiene and safety, disease safety, and meet high market criteria. With the advantage of having 42/63 provinces and cities with swiftlets, plus favorable natural conditions, Vietnam has many foundations to form a bird's nest industry.
Following the success of exporting bird's nests to the Chinese market at the end of 2023, Hai Yen Nha Trang Company has just had the first shipment arrive in the French market at the end of April 2024. This is also the first shipment of Vietnamese bird's nests to be officially exported to the French market.
The official export shipment includes: Nha Trang bird's nest; Nutritional Bird's Nest Jar and Nha Trang Bird's Nest Coffee. 100% of the products are cleared through customs and meet strict quality control standards of France in particular and the European market in general.
Ms. Tran Thanh Hai, Director of Hai Yen Nha Trang Company shared: "We have spent a long time working with French authorities to create a framework for inspection of bird's nest products from the first stages until the goods are exported to France and are inspected as finished products."
After customs clearance, Hai Yen Nha Trang Company's products were present at the "Foire de Paris" International Fair, which was held in Paris from April 27 to May 8, 2024. This is one of the largest fairs in Europe.
