Request for a report on the case of the district headquarters building exceeding its budget by nearly 8 billion VND.

(NLĐO) - The Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa province has requested verification and a report on the case of the district headquarters' budget "overrun" from 45 to 53 billion VND, as reported by Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper.

On March 8th, Mr. Pham Nguyen Hong, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa province, signed a document verifying and investigating information reported by the Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper regarding the construction of the Hoang Hoa District People's Council and People's Committee office building.

In this document, the Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa province requests the People's Committee of Hoang Hoa district to urgently investigate and verify the information reflected in the Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper, send a written report to the press agency, and simultaneously send it to the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa province for compilation and reporting to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

Previously, as reported by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, on March 5, 2025, Mr. Hoang Ngoc Du, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoang Hoa District, Thanh Hoa Province, signed a decision approving the adjustment of the feasibility study report for the investment project to build the working headquarters of the People's Council and People's Committee of Hoang Hoa District.

According to this decision, the project, initially approved with a total investment of 45 billion VND, has now been adjusted to 52.8 billion VND (an increase of 7.8 billion VND). In addition to the increased amount, this decision also extends the project implementation period to 2026 (the previous decision stipulated an implementation period from 2021-2024).

The project is a very modern construction, aimed at improving the infrastructure of local administrative agencies, creating favorable conditions for work, and serving the people.

Notably, the approval for increasing the total investment for this project was issued by the Hoang Hoa District People's Committee after February 28, 2025, when the Politburo and the Secretariat issued Conclusion 127 on studying the abolition of district-level administrative units.

Reportedly, following the Politburo's Conclusion No. 127, many localities have announced a temporary suspension of the implementation of new investment projects, repairs, renovations, and upgrades to the working offices of agencies, organizations, and units under the management of district-level administrative units, ensuring austerity and preventing waste.

However, there has been no announcement or guidance on this matter in Thanh Hoa province.

According to records, the investment project for the construction of the office building of the People's Council and People's Committee of Hoang Hoa district was approved by the Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoang Hoa district in Decision No. 1575/QD-UBND dated August 24, 2022 (with its headquarters located in But Son town, Hoang Hoa district).

The project has a total investment of 45 billion VND, managed by the Hoang Hoa District Investment and Construction Project Management Board, funded by the district budget and other legal sources. The building is 8 stories high with a floor area of ​​approximately 5,000 m2.
