Thanh Hoa speeds up the removal of wave depressions

Thanh Hoa is vigorously implementing a plan to eliminate all "troughs" in mobile waves in remote villages and hamlets, striving to cover 100% of the area by the end of 2025. This is an important step to ensure people's access to the Internet, promote digital services, create a foundation for economic and social development, and ensure national defense and security in the national digital transformation period.

Accelerating the construction of smart telecommunications infrastructure

Implementing the Government's directive to complete mobile coverage in 100% of villages and hamlets before September 2025, Thanh Hoa province has urgently surveyed and invested in additional telecommunications infrastructure in areas with weak signal quality. To date, 20 villages and hamlets with weak signal quality or no signal have been thoroughly reviewed.

Viettel Thanh Hoa is constructing 6 BTS stations with 4G support configuration and is ready to upgrade to 5G when necessary; the stations are expected to broadcast in December 2025. Some locations such as Suoi Tut village (Quang Chieu commune) and Canh Cong village (Trung Ly commune) are currently stuck with procedures because they are located on forest land, requiring close coordination in land management.

Mobifone has completed 4G broadcasting in Cao Hoong village (Co Lung commune), providing stable connection to 24 households; Viettel also plans to put into operation a BTS station in Thung village (Dong Luong commune) in November 2025. However, there are still 9 villages and hamlets that do not have specific investment plans from telecommunications enterprises.

The work of removing the signal depression is facing many challenges, the terrain is complex, the population is scattered, the station locations are mainly on forestry land, while the weather and frequent rains and floods affect the transportation of equipment and construction. Telecommunications businesses said that investment costs in these areas are many times higher than in the plains.

In addition, ensuring a stable power supply for BTS stations in remote areas is also a problem that requires support from related sectors. Some units are considering implementing a hybrid energy solution combining grid electricity and solar energy to ensure continuous operation of the broadcasting station.

Political determination to achieve the target before December 31, 2025

Speaking at the online conference on the plan to eliminate signal gaps for 13 villages and hamlets held on November 3, Mr. Nguyen Hong Phong, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, emphasized the essential role of telecommunications infrastructure in today's life, especially when the province is promoting digital transformation in management, education, health care, trade and social security .

According to Mr. Phong, although network operators have made efforts to expand infrastructure and develop digital databases, the whole province still has 9 villages in 166 communes without mobile signal. "Covering mobile signal to every village and hamlet is an urgent requirement. The province is determined to complete it before December 31, 2025," he emphasized.

Thanh Hoa is determined to provide mobile coverage to every village and hamlet before December 31, 2025.

The Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee requested telecommunications enterprises to closely coordinate with departments, branches and local authorities to speed up the installation progress. He asked Thanh Hoa Electricity Company to support the supply of electricity to BTS stations; the People's Committees of communes to prioritize the arrangement of land, especially on public property, to avoid delays.

"This is not a difficult task, what is important is the companionship and sharing between the government, businesses and people," Mr. Phong affirmed.

Removing the "trough" in mobile signal not only helps people access information, study online, and make digital payments, but also creates a foundation for deploying online public services, digital population management, smart tourism, and digital agriculture. This is also an important factor for Thanh Hoa to achieve the goal of becoming one of the leading provinces in the country in developing digital infrastructure by 2030.
