Data from the outage tracking site Downdetector shows that over 320,000 users in the US reported errors preventing them from accessing YouTube. The reports focused primarily on issues with content not displaying on the homepage, while other functions remained partially operational. The outage affected not only the main website but also the mobile app and the YouTube TV streaming service.
In its latest official announcement, YouTube confirmed the error originated from its recommendations system. This technical glitch prevented videos from displaying on most of its platforms, including the Homepage, YouTube Music, and YouTube Kids. While other functions still partially worked, users were largely unable to find new content to watch.
YouTube has not yet announced the exact global impact. Previously, in mid-October 2025, YouTube also experienced a complete global outage.
