According to information from the Department of Education and Training, the province has 59 examination boards; 163 candidates were absent from the Literature exam out of a total of 24,853 registered candidates. The first exam session proceeded seriously and safely, with no cases of candidates or invigilators violating regulations. The exam questions were assessed as being appropriate for the candidates and having a good level of differentiation.

Later that afternoon, candidates took the Mathematics exam in both multiple-choice and essay formats, with a time limit of 120 minutes.
