With a total score of 29.75 (Literature 9.75; History 10; Geography 10), Nguyen Tran Yen Nhi, a student from Cua Lo High School ( Nghe An province ), has excellently become the top scorer in the C00 subject group nationwide.

This year, the C00 group recorded 13 runners-up, all achieving a score of 29.5 (all candidates had the same score of 9.5 in Literature, 10 in History, and 10 in Geography). Among the 13 runners-up in the C00 group, 5 candidates are from Hanoi and 4 candidates are from Nghe An province.

Notably, there are two runners-up who are students from the Thai ethnic minority studying at the Nghe An Provincial Ethnic Boarding High School. They are Lang Thi Nguyet Nhi and Lo Thi Na Ni.

Study hard to change your life.

Speaking to PNVN newspaper, student Lo Thi Na Ni said that even now, she and her family members are still surprised and overjoyed with the exam results. On the morning of July 16th, Na Ni woke up early and waited by her computer to check her high school graduation exam results.

Then, the female student burst into tears when she learned her exam results. Na Ni even had to stare at the computer screen for a long time before she could believe she had actually achieved such a high score. The joy continued when her teachers informed her that she had passed the national entrance exam as the second-highest scoring student in the C00 subject group.

"In Tuong Duong (a former district of Nghe An province) where I live, economic conditions are not very good, so my parents had to make many sacrifices so that I could pursue my education. Since entering secondary school, I have also had to leave home to study in a boarding school. Therefore, I cherish the opportunity to study and try my best with the dream of changing my life," Na Ni shared.

Student Lo Thi Na Ni became the second-highest scoring student in the C00 group.

Away from home and lacking parental care, Na Ni still set academic goals for herself and strived to achieve them. Before becoming the national runner-up in the C00 subject group, this female student had already made her mark with many outstanding achievements. Among them, during her three years of high school, she consistently excelled academically and won second prize in the provincial Literature competition. Notably, at the end of 12th grade, this student of the Thai ethnic group was also honored to be admitted into the Communist Party.

Anticipating significant changes to this year's exam, Na Ni developed her own study plan and methods. Focusing on social science subjects, Na Ni dedicated considerable time to reading materials and updating her knowledge of real-life situations. She considered this valuable information to apply to her exam preparation.

The female student also emphasized the importance of mastering foundational knowledge, then practicing extensively with sample questions, noting down mistakes, and asking teachers for clarification when needed. In particular, Na Ni always reminds herself to study with an optimistic and calm attitude, and to read the questions carefully to avoid missing any requirements. With her achievements, Na Ni will pursue her dream of studying International Communication at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam.

Pursuing the dream of becoming a History teacher.

Besides Na Ni, the Ethnic Boarding High School of Nghe An Province also has another runner-up in the C00 subject group this year: Lang Thi Nguyet Nhi. When she learned she had become the national runner-up in the C00 subject group, Nguyet Nhi's emotions were overwhelming. "At that time, I didn't dare check my score myself. I gave my registration number to a friend to check, and then she told me my score. I still couldn't believe I got such a high score. Afterwards, I took my registration number and checked it again myself, and then I burst into tears. My mother was also at home, so I called her to come and see the score. We sat together, looked at it, and hugged each other," Nguyet Nhi recounted emotionally.

Nguyệt Nhi is of the Thai ethnic group, from the former Quế Phong district, Nghệ An province – a border region still facing many difficulties. Her parents are farmers, struggling financially. Her family circumstances have become a great motivation for Nguyệt Nhi to strive tirelessly.

Nguyệt Nhi's journey to school is also a story full of determination. From middle school, she attended boarding school, more than 25km from home, and only got to go home about 4-5 times a year. In high school, she continued to apply to a boarding school more than 300km from home. "More than 300km... I only got to go home occasionally during holidays or breaks," Nguyệt Nhi recounted.

The motivation that helped me overcome difficulties, complete my studies, and achieve excellent results like I have now comes from my family. "My family is also a family with difficult circumstances, so I want to study hard to ease the burden on my family," Nguyet Nhi confided.

Lang Thi Nguyet Nhi is pursuing her dream of becoming a history teacher.

With a very high overall score, Nguyet Nhi plans to enroll in the History Education program at Hanoi University of Education. Explaining this decision, Nguyet Nhi shared: "Since middle school, I've been passionate about studying History and Literature. I've participated in the student excellence competitions for both subjects. In high school, I realized I had a greater aptitude for History and studied it in more depth. I even won first prize in the provincial student excellence competition in History, and ranked third overall in the province."

With such impressive achievements, Nguyet Nhi is even more determined to do well in the exams to achieve her dream of becoming a History teacher. She also honestly shared that choosing the teaching profession was partly due to the tuition fees, which suited her family's economic situation. "When I first started high school, I didn't think I would pursue History teaching. But after being taught at the boarding school, especially being inspired by my teacher and developing a passion for History, I decided to choose this subject," Nguyet Nhi said.

When asked about her experience in studying social science subjects to achieve high results, Nguyet Nhi shared that she didn't take extra classes outside of school but only studied with her subject teachers at school. For Literature, she had a strong foundation from middle school and received dedicated guidance from her homeroom teacher, who was also a literature teacher. For History, she had an advantage from her experience preparing for the provincial-level gifted student competition. As for Geography, she only accelerated her studies in 12th grade because she hadn't focused on it much initially.

This year's high school graduation exam has many changes, especially the exam questions for social science subjects. Nguyet Nhi admitted to being a little surprised when reading the questions, especially the Literature exam. "I was surprised because I had never practiced with such questions before," she said. Even with experience, she found the multiple-choice section of History quite difficult, especially the first four questions, making her think she wouldn't get a perfect score. However, Geography was much easier than the exams she had taken before.
