20 years of nurturing the dream wedding photo album

1980s style wedding photos attract attention
Every wedding photo has a breath of the old days. From the setting, the bride and groom's costumes, the makeup to the poses, everything is in the style of the 1980s.
The main characters of this unique wedding photo series are Doan Van Dung (born in 1977, from Ninh Binh) and Dinh Thi Giang Huong (born in 1978, from Tuyen Quang ).
Huong and her husband got married in 2003. At that time, she always dreamed of being a bride with blue eyeliner, long fake eyelashes, red heart-shaped lips, a flowing wedding dress, a flower crown, and elegant gloves, but she couldn't.
Every photo has the breath of the old days.
20 years have passed, she still cherishes the dream of taking wedding photos in the old style, transforming into the bride she has always dreamed of. At the end of 2023, when the children are grown up, also on the occasion of their 20th wedding anniversary, the couple decided to take a special wedding photo album.
“The photo series was taken on December 23, 2023, and received a lot of attention when it was posted. After 1 year, the photo series was once again widely shared on social networks, which surprised me.
I want to keep a picture of all family members, to recall beautiful memories, a unique style that only existed in the 1980s. And I also want to leave my children sweet memories of our small home,” Ms. Huong shared.
Great preparation, unexpected results
At the end of 2022, she came up with the idea. In 2023, she and the photography crew started preparing.
It took a long time to prepare but the results they received were beyond their expectations.
She had to order a wedding dress and buy old-fashioned women's sandals. A close friend went to her hometown to ask for a plastic basket and gave it to her. A 70-year-old neighbor heard about the story and lent her a box of clothes she wore when she was 16 or 17. She was 'as happy as if she had found gold'.
She happily took a bundle of satin fabric from her parents' acquaintance to the tailor shop. She borrowed the groom's suit and shoes from her father and father-in-law.
For the bouquet of white gladiolus, she asked her friends in Tuyen Quang to buy 50 flowers to put in a vase and as a hand-held flower for the bride. She and her team also had to prepare for a long time to have enough other accessories.
“Preparing the backdrop was also hard work, the whole team had to cut out the letters and paste them by hand. However, no one was discouraged, whenever they got tired they would turn on the music, dance, entertain themselves and then continue working,” she said.
Beautiful pictures like in the movies
The photoshoot lasted from afternoon to dusk and was more successful than expected. Looking back at each photo, she was both satisfied that her dream had come true and happy because of the moment when the family was together.
The time spent with her husband, children, friends, relatives and crew preparing every little detail for the wedding photo album also became an unforgettable memory in her life.
“The photo series received many compliments. What makes me happy is that every time someone asks about it, my relatives proudly boast, ‘those are my brothers, my children, my grandchildren...’,” Ms. Huong confided.
For more than 20 years together, Huong and her husband have always loved and respected each other. That was also the motivation for her to take this memorable photo series.
