250 projects, more than 1.2 million billion VND and a commitment to the future

(Chinhphu.vn) - The inauguration and groundbreaking of 250 projects nationwide are of special significance, creating a solid foundation for the country to enter a new development phase - 'the era of national growth', contributing to realizing the target of double-digit economic growth in the coming years.

On the morning of August 19, the inauguration and groundbreaking ceremony of projects and works to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam took place with 80 live and online television stations.

250 projects, total investment of more than 1.2 million billion VND

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh said that in the 2021-2025 period, infrastructure investment has received special attention from the Party and State and has been identified as one of the strategic breakthroughs to promote socio -economic development and strengthen security and defense. The ministries, branches and localities have received attention, direction and assignment from the National Assembly and the Government for many important tasks, including industrial and energy projects, key transport projects such as highways, airports, seaports, urban railways, high-speed railways, etc.

Accompanying the whole country, ministries, branches, localities, and business communities have made efforts to coordinate in implementing key projects, determined to accelerate the implementation progress; started and completed many important projects and works, contributing to the country in fulfilling the set goals to enter a new era - the era of national growth, creating a solid foundation for the economic growth target of more than 8% in 2025 and towards double-digit growth in the following years.

"With the efforts of ministries, branches, localities and enterprises, today across the country, we solemnly held the inauguration and groundbreaking ceremonies of 250 projects in 34 provinces/cities. Of which, 161 projects were started; 89 projects were inaugurated with a total investment of VND 1,280,000 billion, including 129 state-owned projects with VND 478,000 billion, accounting for 37% and 121 other capital projects with VND 802,000 billion, accounting for 63% (including 5 FDI projects with VND 54,000 billion)", Minister Tran Hong Minh stated.

The Minister emphasized that these are all important projects of strategic significance; not only are they the result of efforts and joint efforts to overcome difficulties, but they are also symbols of the aspirations for development and the will to rise up of the entire nation. This is also a vivid demonstration of the achievements in developing the country's infrastructure, demonstrating the determination of the Party, State and people in building a prosperous, civilized and modern Vietnam.

Go first and pave the way

In his speech, the Minister of Construction reviewed a number of typical, key projects that played a notable role in "pioneering the way".

Regarding expressways, from the beginning of 2025 to now, the whole country has completed 455 km, bringing the total length of expressways put into operation to about 2,476 km; it is expected that from now until the end of the year, we will strive to complete about 700 km more, aiming to complete 3,000 km by the end of 2025 and 5,000 km by 2030. Regarding the coastal road system, 1,397 km have been put into operation, 633 km are under construction, and the target of 2,838 km is gradually being completed.

Today, 6 more expressway projects with a total length of 364 km were started and many other road projects were upgraded and expanded; especially the start of the expressway from Ca Mau to Dat Mui, the last piece on the North-South axis...

Regarding maritime and inland waterways, with more than 3,260 km of coastline and a dense river network, the country has great potential for developing the marine economy and water transport.

Many key projects have been implemented such as Cai Mep - Thi Vai port, Lach Huyen, Hau River channel, Cho Gao canal, promoting investment in Can Gio port, Nam Do Son... contributing to logistics development and cost reduction.

The groundbreaking of Hon Khoai and Bai Goc ports is a strategic step, serving economic development, ensuring national defense and security, and contributing to the completion of Resolution No. 36-NQ/TW on the strategy for marine economic development.

Regarding railways, two urban railway projects, Cat Linh - Ha Dong, Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien and the Nhon - Kim Ma section, have been put into operation, gradually modernizing the urban area.

Today, the groundbreaking ceremony of the Resettlement Area projects serving the North-South and Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong high-speed railway projects is an extremely important project, creating a premise for the high-speed railway projects to be implemented on schedule.

Regarding aviation, the completion of many key aviation projects such as the expansion of Tan Son Nhat and Noi Bai ports... and especially Long Thanh port is being implemented with the aim of basically completing it in 2025 and today continues to start construction of Gia Binh port (level 4E), Cat Bi Terminal T2, and the expansion of Ca Mau port...

Regarding civil construction works, compared to the beginning of the term, the urbanization rate has reached 44.9% (up 5.6%); 94% of urban residents have access to clean water (up 3%); the average housing area has reached 26.6m² of floor space per person (up 2.2m²),...

From 2021 to present, the whole country has implemented 692 social housing projects with about 634,000 units, aiming to reach 1 million units for low-income people by 2030; the whole country has joined hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, more than 334,200 units. This is a "Special National Project", "Project of the Party's will and the people's heart" and has reached the finish line 5 years and 4 months ahead of the target set in Resolution 42-NQ/TW.

In addition, many other typical projects were inaugurated such as: Nghe An Oncology Hospital, Saigon International Financial Center; 21 social housing projects with about 11,500 apartments were started in many provinces and cities...

Regarding technological development, in recent years, the Construction industry has made many great strides in science and technology, mastering many modern technologies such as: construction of bridges of all kinds, tunnel construction; intelligent traffic systems; gradually applying BIM technology, artificial intelligence...

In addition, across the country, many large projects and works in the fields of agriculture, industry, energy, culture, education, etc. were simultaneously inaugurated and started, playing an important role in promoting sustainable development and improving the quality of people's lives.

Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh said that most of the projects inaugurated today were implemented in an extremely difficult context, heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, fluctuations in material prices...

Thoroughly implementing the Prime Minister's directive: "All must unite for the common goal, for the benefit of the people, the nation and the people"; "Harmonious interests, shared difficulties", the Construction industry is determined to complete the projects, which is an honor and a responsibility before the Party, the State and the people.

The Prime Minister, ministries, branches and localities have launched emulation movements, both to encourage and motivate, and to give orders to strive with high determination, great efforts, actively innovate thinking, ways of thinking, and ways of doing; at the same time, proactively overcome difficulties in materials and weather conditions.

Under the close direction of the Government, Government leaders, ministries, branches and localities, tens of thousands of engineers and workers at construction sites have worked continuously with the spirit of "3 shifts and 4 shifts", "eating quickly, sleeping urgently", ready to work through holidays and Tet, overcoming all harsh weather conditions to bring the project to completion on schedule and ensure quality.
