3 months there were 17 cases of resistance when being blown for alcohol concentration

In the first 3 months of 2023 alone, there were 28 cases of resisting law enforcement officers nationwide. Notably, more than 50% of the cases occurred when the driver was tested for alcohol concentration.

On the afternoon of April 11, a representative of the Traffic Police Department (Traffic Police - Ministry of Public Security ) said that in the first 3 months of the year, there were 28 incidents of resisting law enforcement officers nationwide, injuring 10 traffic police officers.

Traffic police administratively check vehicle drivers

Traffic police directly and jointly arrested 29 subjects to hand over to authorities for handling.

Of which, 4 cases occurred in Hanoi, 3 in Ho Chi Minh City, 2 cases each in Vinh Phuc, Hoa Binh , Phu Yen, Binh Dinh, Tuyen Quang.

The provinces of Hung Yen, Lao Cai, Thanh Hoa, Dong Thap, Hai Duong, Bac Ninh, Bac Lieu, Bac Kan , Son La, Quang Binh each had 1 incident.

An incident occurred on the Hanoi - Lao Cai highway managed by the Traffic Police Department.

The representative of the Traffic Police Department also said that compared to the same period in 2022, there were 20 more cases, 8 more traffic police officers injured, and 22 more arrests.

It is worth mentioning that the number of people using alcohol to resist traffic police was up to 17 cases (accounting for more than 50%), injuring 5 traffic police officers and arresting 17 subjects.

For example, the incident that occurred in Vinh Phuc and Lao Cai provinces last February, the subjects driving cars and motorbikes crashed straight into the traffic police when asked to stop and check alcohol concentration. The above incidents clearly demonstrate the recklessness, disregard for consequences, and disregard for the law of the criminals.

Explaining this issue, a representative of the Traffic Police Department said that drivers who drink alcohol will not be able to control their mental and behavioral state. This is the reason why some violations have obstructed, resisted, uncooperative, and refused to measure alcohol concentration when the Traffic Police requested to check and handle the case.

Causing difficulties for the authorities, making the traffic police spend a lot of time to handle a case.

In the coming time, the Traffic Police Department will continue to coordinate with local police to resolutely handle cases of resisting law enforcement officers at the most severe level to deter criminals.
