At the 2023 university admission conference, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy, Director of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Training, said that last year, the whole country had 521,263 candidates enrolling in universities (reaching 83.39% of the target, higher than the enrollment number of 2021 and 2020).
Of these, the highest percentage of candidates passing the entrance exam, 24.54%, is in the Business and Management majors. Next is the Computer and Information Technology group - 11.79%, Engineering Technology 9.18% and Humanities 8.68%.

Admission rate of candidates to majors in 2022.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, last year 64/330 university and college training institutions had poor enrollment, with enrollment rates below 50%; 94/440 majors had poor enrollment, not meeting quality and targets.
For the third consecutive year, the four fields of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Life Sciences , Natural Sciences and Social Services have topped the list of the worst recruiting fields.
According to Ms. Thuy, training facilities are not recruiting well mainly due to reasons such as: not having enough prestige and brand to attract candidates, geographical location, competition when annual quotas increase, training fields that candidates have little demand for following social trends, narrow training fields, new pilot training fields, and fields that lack attractiveness in terms of job opportunities and career development.

4 majors with the lowest admission rates.
To prepare for university admissions in 2023, Ms. Thuy recommends that universities need to grasp the labor market, as well as the differences in the concepts and needs of young people in choosing schools and majors.
Schools also need to innovate the content of the industry and training programs, the training environment and methods, communication and recruitment promotion. Ministries and sectors using human resources need to implement a training ordering mechanism.
2022 is the first year that candidates nationwide register for admission online. Candidates registering for majors/universities must include the corresponding admission method code. However, many admission methods have similar names, causing confusion for candidates, leading to unnecessary university failures. Therefore, this year, the Ministry of Education and Training has simplified the registration process, candidates only register for admission according to the admission code/major, minimizing confusion.
