Dong Nai: 5 cars collided on the Dau Giay - Phan Thiet highway from Binh Thuan to Ho Chi Minh City, causing a 5km traffic jam on the afternoon of February 13 (the 4th day of Tet).

At around 5pm, thousands of vehicles were lining up to return to Ho Chi Minh City after 4 days of Tet on the Dau Giay - Phan Thiet Expressway. When they reached Cam My district near the toll station, 5 cars collided in a row, causing many vehicles to have severe damage to the front and rear. One car had its front end crushed, but there were no casualties.

The accident happened at the time when people were pouring into Ho Chi Minh City, causing traffic jams in the area. Vehicles had to inch their way through the 5km stretch of highway.

The Traffic Police Department and the highway management force coordinated, cleared the scene, and investigated the cause of the accident. At the same time, to reduce pressure, the Traffic Police guided cars to the highway at two intersections near the scene so that vehicles could continue their journey along Highway 1 to Ho Chi Minh City.

At 8 p.m., traffic through the Dau Giay - Phan Thiet expressway near the Long Thanh - Ho Chi Minh City intersection was still congested and vehicles were moving slowly.

The Dau Giay - Phan Thiet Expressway is 99 km long, connecting Dong Nai and Binh Thuan provinces, with a total investment of more than 12,500 billion VND. The route starts at the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet Expressway in Ham Thuan Nam district and ends at the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway intersection in Thong Nhat district, Dong Nai province. The project helps cars from Ho Chi Minh City to Phan Thiet take more than 2 hours instead of 4-5 hours as before.
