On the evening of December 6, Mr. Pham Ngoc Quy - Head of the Food Safety and Hygiene Department of Nghe An province - said that as of 5:00 p.m. the same day, 63 people suspected of food poisoning had to be hospitalized for treatment.

At Nghi Loc District General Hospital (Nghe An), from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on December 6, the hospital received and treated 42 cases of suspected food poisoning from a company located in the WHA Industrial Park, Nghi Long Commune, Nghi Loc District.

Patients were admitted with symptoms of headache, nausea, and hot flushes. Some cases had chest tightness, burning, rash on the face, neck, arms, and fatigue.

After receiving IV fluids and care, all patients have stabilized. Currently, the hospital is continuing to monitor and actively treat the patients.

Mr. Quy said that immediately after receiving the information, the unit sent officers to the scene to grasp the situation and investigate the poisoning case.

In addition to the 42 patients treated at Nghi Loc District General Hospital, there are 12 patients treated at Nghe An 115 General Hospital and 9 patients at Cua Dong General Hospital.

It is known that these 63 people belong to two different companies in WHA Industrial Park and VSIP Industrial Park. All of these people used lunch from a catering company.

Lunch includes dishes such as rice, braised pork with radish, fried silver pomfret, stir-fried pickles with meat, stir-fried vegetables, oranges, sour soup...

“Today, the company provided meals for more than 1,000 workers. We have taken samples for testing to find the cause of the poisoning. Currently, the patients' condition has improved and some have been discharged from the hospital,” Mr. Quy added.

Nghe An Department of Health requested the provincial Food Safety and Hygiene Sub-Department to instruct the Management Board of WHA Nghe An Industrial Park to notify all employees who had lunch with the patients on December 6 to immediately go to the nearest medical facility if they have unusual signs such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, etc.
