650 athletes participate in the first Northern Region Open Pickleball Tournament of CAND

The first Northern Open Pickleball Tournament of the People's Public Security (CAND) in 2025 officially opened on the evening of July 18, 2025, in Hanoi.

The first Northern Open Pickleball Tournament of the People's Public Security Forces in 2025 was organized by the Vietnam People's Public Security Sports Association in collaboration with New Sports Joint Stock Company and Life Vision Media Joint Stock Company with the message "Training to contribute, courage to create glory".

The tournament brings together 650 athletes who are officers and soldiers from police units and non-police units in the Northern region. The athletes will compete in 11 events in two categories: grassroots and open.

Colonel Nguyen Thi Thuy Thanh spoke at the opening ceremony.

In which, the grassroots level is for officers and soldiers of the Public Security units and localities with headquarters from Hue City and above; divided into 2 age groups under 35 and over 35. The open level is for qualified athletes in units and localities; Pickleball clubs nationwide. The open level has no limit on level and does not divide the age of athletes.

In addition, the tournament has the participation of many guest athletes and influential people in the sports community such as Ly Hoang Nam, Truong Vinh Hien, Sophia Phuong Anh, Tran Huyen Trang, Kenta Miyoshi, Jimmy Liong, Jack Wong.

The organizing committee presented flowers and souvenir flags to the participating teams.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the tournament, Colonel Nguyen Thi Thuy Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Political Affairs, Deputy Head of the Tournament Organizing Committee emphasized: Pickleball is a new sport, combining the techniques of many sports such as: Tennis, badminton, table tennis, with a fast development speed, is a trend, attracting the attention and winning the hearts of many players of many ages, with a simple, easy-to-access gameplay but still requiring agility and tactics. The Pickleball training and competition movement is taking place vigorously in many units and localities across the country.

“This is not only a large-scale, professional sports tournament of the Public Security sector, but also a cultural event that connects the community; an important test step to standardize the process of organizing sports activities of the Public Security sector in a professional manner. We believe that the tournament is an opportunity to connect units, between the Public Security force and the people, together spreading the movement of training the health, spirit and bravery of Public Security soldiers to the community, aiming at the core value of “Healthy to protect the Fatherland, healthy to build the country” – Colonel Nguyen Thi Thuy Thanh emphasized.

Officially taking place from July 18-20, 2025 at the US Pickleball court cluster, No. 70 An Duong, Yen Phu ward, Tay Ho district, Hanoi city, the first Northern Open Pickleball Tournament of the People's Public Security Forces in 2025 promises to be an important highlight, contributing to building the image of a healthy, professional, modern and brave People's Public Security soldier, ready to contribute to the cause of protecting national security and social order, and at the same time is a practical activity to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the People's Public Security Forces' Traditional Day (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025).
