Activision is shutting down the original 'Call of Duty: Warzone'

According to VGC , Activision recently confirmed that it will shut down the original Call of Duty: Warzone game at the end of this year.

"As of September 21, 2023, Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera will be officially shut down. This is part of a plan to allow the development team to focus more on new Call of Duty content in the future, including the popular free-to-play Warzone game," the company said.

Activision is shutting down Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera

Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera is a rebranded version of the first Warzone game that launched alongside Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in 2020. After Warzone 2.0 was released last November, the original Warzone was renamed to Caldera .

Activision has confirmed that players will still be able to access all of the costumes and weapons they've purchased (or unlocked) with the multiplayer modes of high-profile Call of Duty titles like Modern Warfare, Black Ops Cold War , and Vanguard .

The company also thanked the Warzone fan community with the content: "Thank you to the Call of Duty community and our developers for making Call of Duty: Warzone a great place to play games together."
