Agribank brings modern banking services to light up development hopes in Thanh An island commune

On the morning of August 15, a landmark event took place in Thanh An island commune (Ho Chi Minh City) when Agribank officially opened the first AutoBank CDM in the area.

This is not only the launch of a modern banking device, but also demonstrates Agribank 's strong commitment to eliminating distances, bringing modern financial services to disadvantaged areas, affirming the mission of "covering" banking services to remote areas and islands of the Fatherland.

Attending the Ceremony were leaders of the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thanh An commune, along with many people coming to experience banking services.

Agribank opened the first AutoBank CDM automatic deposit and withdrawal machine in Thanh An island commune - Ho Chi Minh City.

The concerns of the island commune "surrounded by water"

Thanh An is a special island commune, located about 70km from the center of Ho Chi Minh City. With its isolated geographical location, completely separated from the mainland, this place is classified as a particularly difficult group of the City.

All trading and travel activities of people mainly depend on trains and boats.

This isolation has created an invisible barrier, causing many islanders to face many difficulties in accessing and using banking and financial services to meet their living and production and business needs.

Every financial transaction, from receiving pensions, depositing savings to borrowing capital for production and business, has become extremely difficult, time-consuming and costly.

From understanding to decisive action

Understanding these difficulties, during a working trip to Can Gio district in June 2025, Comrade To Huy Vu, Party Secretary and Chairman of the Board of Members of Agribank, directly grasped the thoughts and aspirations of the local government and people. Immediately after that, the Board of Directors of Agribank directed the urgent installation of AutoBank CDM machines in the island commune.

The Chairman of the Board of Members of Agribank hopes that the early operation of the AutoBank CDM machine in Thanh An island commune will promptly support people in accessing banking services, serving essential needs and overcoming infrastructure barriers. This is a testament to the determination of Agribank, a State-owned commercial bank that is always a pioneer in implementing the policies of the Party and the Government, especially in investing in "three rural areas" and difficult areas.
