This is the opinion of Master Le Tuan Anh - lecturer of the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology - at the conference "Media and Media Training" held on the morning of July 16 at Hoa Sen University. Mr. Tuan Anh said that the programs of the schools have not mentioned much about AI - artificial intelligence.
According to Mr. Tuan Anh, the number of journalism and media training units in Vietnam has increased in recent years. Although many schools have training programs that mention AI, the limited number of lessons makes students have a relatively vague understanding of AI. However, this is still a big problem for many training facilities, especially schools without abundant budgets.
"To overcome this problem, journalism and media training schools can cooperate with technology companies such as Google, Facebook... to provide students with opportunities to practice and access the latest technologies," said Mr. Tuan Anh.
Ms. Duong Thanh Huong - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Education and Times Newspaper - commented that the development of the Internet and new digital technologies has put the press industry under great pressure, forcing it to participate in fierce competition for information.
"This is the most challenging period for journalism! AI has had a profound impact on the fundamental elements of journalism - media, journalism - media production" - Ms. Huong affirmed.
Many opinions say that AI is both a driving force for the development of journalism and media, and a big challenge for press agencies. Therefore, training high-quality human resources, quickly adapting to technology and digital transformation is one of the vital issues for journalism and media training institutions.
Training of journalism human resources in journalism training units needs certain changes, especially in applying AI technologies.
In the current context, technology, finance and human resources are the three main pillars in newsrooms.
Technology is available for agencies to apply at any time. Finance is also important, but it is no longer a big problem, depending on the finances of the press agencies, the agencies will equip different software. Therefore, human resources are the key and most important factor in the context of digital transformation.
