Conversations and text messages about a 'coup plan' were found on the mobile phone of Mauro Cid - the personal assistant of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.
According to Brazil's O Globo newspaper on June 7, on Mr. Cid's mobile phone, the police also discovered a draft of the Law and Order Decree (GLO) - a mechanism that can only be activated by the President of Brazil and is used to mobilize the Armed Forces in emergency situations, along with plans to support the coup.
Brazilian police are investigating who the plans were written for. So far, there is no indication that the texts found on Mr. Cid’s mobile phone were sent to former President Bolsonaro.
This is not the first time that Mr Bolsonaro's confidants have appeared in investigations into coup plots.

Earlier this year, Brazilian federal police issued an arrest warrant for former Justice Minister Anderson Torres as soon as he returned from a vacation in the US, accusing him of involvement in a "coup plot" against President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
Mr. Torres was appointed head of the capital Brasilia's security forces on January 2, but just five days later, he left for a vacation in the United States, and immediately after that, riots broke out, led by extremist groups supporting former President Bolsonaro, who attacked and vandalized government offices.
During a search of Torres's home, police discovered a draft decree that would have allowed then-President Bolsonaro to intervene in the electoral body to overturn the results of the October 30, 2022 vote in which the far-right politician lost to his opponent Lula da Silva.
