My family will drive from Hanoi to Hue for 4 days from the 2nd day of Tet, what should we do to rest and eat properly?
My family has 6 people, planning to drive from Hanoi to Hue on the upcoming Lunar New Year, leaving on the 2nd and returning on the 6th, with only one person driving.
Please tell me, where should I go and stop, what is the reasonable distance, where should I sleep at night and how should I continue? What should I eat and drink during Tet, are there many shops open on the road? What historical sites and scenic spots are suitable on the way? Also, is there anything else I should note, please provide more information from readers.
Thanks.

There are some notes on the road from the North to the Central region that tourists and drivers should pay attention to, according to advice from Mr. Viet Hung, representative of a travel company in Hanoi, and some members of some driving forums.
- The distance from Hanoi to Hue is about 680 km if you take National Highway 1A and about 700 km if you take Ho Chi Minh Road. You should take National Highway 1A because there are many highways, it is not crowded, and you can go fast.

- The average time from Hanoi to Hue is about 10 to 12 hours, depending on the health of the driver and the members in the car.
- During Tet, most of the famous restaurants along Highway 1 will be closed, or if they are open, the food will not be of good quality, at least until before the 3rd day of Tet.
Therefore, it is best for tourists to prepare some food in advance and bring it from home, and actively eat on the bus or at rest stops. Usually, only when entering the center of big cities along the way such as Vinh (Nghe An), Dong Hoi (Quang Binh), Ha Tinh, there are a few shops open and can ensure food and drink.
- You should stop for lunch in Vinh, Hong Linh town or a little further away in Vung Ang (Ky Anh town, Ha Tinh). In addition, if there is only one driver, note that every 3.5 to 4 hours you should stop for a break of about 30 to 45 minutes.
- If you are not under too much pressure to arrive in Hue on the first day, you can be flexible in choosing where to stay. Spend the first night in Quang Binh (Dong Hoi city), the second and third nights in Hue, then when you return you can stay in Ha Tinh for the last night.
- Please comply with speed limits and do not drink alcohol while driving. National Highway 1A, Nghe An, Ha Tinh and Quang Binh sections have many cameras for issuing fines.
