Safety from boarding meals

In recent days, the case of Lien Anh Company being discovered by the press to have falsified the origin of vegetables sent to school kitchens in Hanoi has attracted special attention from the public. Just one loophole in control is enough for floating food to enter school meals, which raises the urgent need to tighten management at the local level.

The school lunch has more meaning than just a nutritional portion. It is a "shield" protecting the health of future generations, an extended arm of the family, and the peace of mind that parents entrust every day. Therefore, once that "shield" is punctured by deceit and reckless self-interest, the price to pay is the health of the students and the insecurity of the community.

The good news is that immediately after the reflection, the leaders of Hanoi City directed the inspection, handling of violations and comprehensive rectification. However, the important thing is that management cannot only react after the incident occurs.

For school meals to be truly safe, there needs to be a strict and transparent prevention mechanism right from the start. This transparency is both a barrier of prevention and a way to strengthen parents' trust.

Looking at a broader scope, in Thai Nguyen every day a large number of meals are prepared for students. How to ensure adequate nutrition and safety? This responsibility is placed on the shoulders of adults, with specific roles: Schools must be serious in selecting and supervising; suppliers must put reputation first; management agencies maintain regular inspections, not allowing loopholes; parents, with their companionship and voice, are the most effective "supervisors".

Over the years, the Education sector has coordinated with relevant agencies to check the origin, provide training on processing, and store food samples. Many schools have proactively signed contracts with cooperatives and reputable businesses to bring clean food into the kitchen. These efforts show that only when all stages are strictly controlled can school meals be truly safe.

However, challenges remain. At any time, just one loose link in the control chain can create a loophole for unsafe food to enter schools.

Therefore, it requires closer coordination between sectors, localities and especially the supervision role of parents. When each side shares responsibility and raises awareness, the "shield" to protect the health of future generations will be truly strong. Because, more than anything, children deserve to grow up in a safe environment, starting with their daily meals at school.

A delicious, clean, nutritious meal today will nurture a healthy, confident, and creative generation tomorrow. That is a nutritional calculation, and also a measure of the ethics and responsibility of adults who are shouldering the future of children.
