Impressive bronze relief at Hung Temple Historical Site

Not only showing respect and deep gratitude to beloved President Ho Chi Minh, the bronze relief “Uncle Ho talking to cadres and soldiers of the Vanguard Army” at the Hung Temple Historical Relic Site is also an important cultural work contributing to building the Hung Temple worthy of a special National Historical Relic Site, with practical significance ineducating the tradition of solidarity, the morality of “When drinking water, remember its source”, fostering patriotism and pride in the heroic history of our nation, people and army.

The new relief is cast in bronze, has an arc shape with a length of 28.16m and a height of 10.99m.

After more than two decades of standing firm and silently through the years, experiencing many storms and rains, witnessing many emotions of pilgrims to Hung Temple and promoting the effectiveness of traditional education work, the stone relief "Uncle Ho talking to cadres and soldiers of the Vanguard Army" at the intersection of Den Gieng, although still intact, has some cracks, stains, and signs of deterioration in the stone crevices... affecting the aesthetic part of the relief, somewhat no longer suitable for the infrastructure and landscape of the area of ​​Den Gieng intersection which has been invested in spaciously and spaciously.

In order to continue to protect, preserve and promote the value of the project worthy of the National Special Historical Site, ensuring solemnity and the best conditions to meet the requirements of welcoming and receiving visitors, the Hung Temple National Special Historical Site has consulted and reported to the leaders at all levels and received the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense 's donation to restore, embellish and upgrade the bronze relief to replace the stone relief, with a scale suitable for the function of organizing important ceremonies and cultural activities; ensuring aesthetics, solemnity, creating synchronization with the architecture and landscape space of the Hung Temple National Special Historical Site.

The project to restore and embellish the bas-relief "Uncle Ho talking to officers and soldiers of the Vanguard Army" started from June 20, 2023 to March 20, 2024 and was officially inaugurated and put into use from April 8, 2024 - on the occasion of the Hung Kings' Commemoration Anniversary - Hung Temple Festival in the year of Giap Thin.

The project includes 3 items: Dismantling the entire existing stone relief built in 2001 and moving it to reassemble it at the yard of the Military Region 2 Command Museum; renovating and embellishing the new relief; the infrastructure system of the yard, garden, lighting, and trees are arranged synchronously for the project according to the design.

In particular, the foundation and supporting wall of the old relief were newly designed with reinforced concrete on the basis of maintaining the original state. The relief itself was designed and built in an arc shape with a length of 28.16m; height of 10.99m; reinforced concrete walls 30cm thick. The pieces of the relief were cast in copper alloy with an average thickness of 1.5cm with each panel measuring 100x100cm, assembled and welded directly at the site, connected to the reinforced concrete walls through a box steel frame system. The process of implementing the art part of the relief complied with the regulations of the Government and the instructions of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. On both sides of the relief, 18 stainless steel flagpoles 10m high were installed.

Located on a large area of ​​thousands of square meters with a system of courtyards, steps paved with natural basalt, gardens, flower beds, trees, and synchronized lighting, the bronze relief complex has become an important highlight in the journey of sacred destinations of the Hung Kings Temple National Historical Site.

The center of the relief depicts Uncle Ho sitting and talking with officers and soldiers of the Vanguard Army Corps, on both sides of the relief are images of palm forests and rolling tea hills typical of the Ancestral Land. With its delicate, vivid lines, touching the emotions of the viewer, the relief has attracted a large number of pilgrims to Hung Temple to stop, admire, check-in and capture beautiful moments...

Mr. Vu Xuan Bong - a tourist from Phu Lam commune, Doan Hung district shared: “This year, my family visited Hung Temple on the occasion of Hung King's death anniversary - Hung Temple Festival, and had the chance to see with our own eyes the newly inaugurated bronze relief at the Gieng Temple intersection. I found the relief to be really beautiful and impressive. I was moved and grateful. Looking at the relief, I deeply remembered Uncle Ho's sacred teachings of the past: "The Hung Kings had the merit of building the country, we, Uncle and I, must work together to protect the country."

At the inauguration ceremony of the relief on April 8, 2024, General Phan Van Giang - Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense emphasized: "This is a cultural work of profound political, historical and humanistic significance; inscribing the truth of national independence associated with building and defending the country, drawn from the immortal teachings of Uncle Ho; is a symbol of the love, trust, and respect of the Army, Party Committee, Government, People of all ethnic groups in Phu Tho province and people across the country for President Ho Chi Minh throughout the glorious revolutionary journey in the past and forever after".
