In power transmission and distribution systems, medium voltage switchboards are essential equipment - responsible for switching, controlling, and protecting the entire power system to operate stably and safely.
Mastering core technology, bringing Vietnamese electrical cabinets to international standards
Previously, most of this equipment in Vietnam was imported from large industrial corporations such as Siemens, ABB, Schneider... Dependence on foreign countries resulted in high costs, long delivery times, difficult maintenance and potential risks of system insecurity.

It was in that gap that a Vietnamese private enterprise decided to step in. Asia Industrial Technology Joint Stock Company (ACIT), with the project “Research and development of medium voltage switchboard production ” chaired by Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director Pham Dinh Thang, created a turning point.
“This is the result of persistent research and development, mastering core technology, creating electrical products that meet international standards and are certified by the Dutch organization KEMA,” said Mr. Thang.
The project focuses on two main product lines: 24kV and 40.5kV medium voltage switchgear, strictly following IEC 62271-200 standards. This is the international standard for safety and performance of switching equipment in medium voltage power networks . The entire product testing process is carried out at the KEMA laboratory (Netherlands) - one of the three leading testing centers in the world in the electricity industry. Passing rigorous tests such as short circuit fault current resistance, industrial frequency voltage resistance, lightning impulse voltage, airtightness test... not only proves product quality, but also demonstrates the ability to master technology and design and manufacture according to global standards.

ACIT brand medium voltage switchboards are present in thousands of projects nationwide - from 110kV transformer stations, solar power plants, wind power plants, to industrial parks, urban areas, hospitals and schools. The products not only have advantages in price, delivery time, after-sales service, but also create a closed domestic supply chain, contributing to the development of the domestic supporting industry.
With that achievement, the project was awarded the Tran Dai Nghia Award in 2025 - a prestigious national award for applied science and technology projects that bring about clear socio -economic efficiency. Previously, the product was also recognized as a Key Industrial Product of Hanoi (2020, 2023) and entered the National Brand Program in 2024.
Mastering technology is a must
In his speech at the award ceremony, Mr. Pham Dinh Thang did not talk much about himself. Instead, he spent most of his time emphasizing the development journey of ACIT – the company he founded in 2006, and which has now grown to become one of the leading electrical equipment manufacturers in Vietnam.

“I started with a question: Why can’t Vietnamese people make their own medium voltage electrical cabinets that meet international standards instead of always importing them? No one forced me to do that. But I believe that if no one does, we will always be behind in the future. Mastering technology is a must if we want to develop sustainably,” he shared.
That belief did not come spontaneously. It was accumulated through nearly 20 years of working in the electrical equipment industry, witnessing the lessons of failure from dependence on foreign technology. ACIT was initially just a small and medium-sized enterprise, but with a long-term investment strategy in people, research and technology, the company has gradually grown.
Up to now, ACIT has become one of the leading private enterprises in the field of manufacturing electrical equipment, automation and renewable energy in Vietnam. The company has 4 large-scale electrical equipment factories, modern production lines, applying 4.0 technology in production, achieving a production output value of about 2,000 billion VND per year, creating jobs for 1,000 workers. The company also has an Institute of Technology and Application to bring products and applications to the company's own factories.
Along with manufacturing electrical equipment, ACIT also invests in renewable energy – a field that Mr. Thang calls “investment for the future”. Two solar power plants in Ninh Thuan (225MW) have been connected to the national grid, with an output of more than 420 million kWh/year. It is expected that by the third quarter of 2025, the Quang Tri wind power plant (40MW) will be operational, in time for the 80th anniversary of National Day.
“Today’s Tran Dai Nghia Award is a noble reward for the group of authors and all employees of our ACIT company. This will be a source of motivation for us to continue to persevere in our journey of connecting knowledge, technology and Vietnamese aspirations, for a strong and prosperous Vietnam,” he expressed.
Mr. Pham Dinh Thang said that in 2025, ACIT is determined to produce 24kV and 40.5kV RMU medium voltage cabinets with a localization rate of over 80% and manufactured on modern production lines, meeting international standards, capable of competing directly with global brands right in the Vietnamese market.
This is not only a commitment to quality but also the Vietnamese people's aspiration for self-reliance, self-reliance, and mastery of technology.
“As a private enterprise that has grown from the spirit of innovation, ACIT will remember and act in accordance with the spirit of Resolution No. 68 of the newly issued Politburo on developing the private economy into an important driving force of the economy,” he shared.
