At the Google I/O event in mid-May, the search giant mentioned the appearance of a new button when users decide to purchase software or features/items within an app (in-app purchase) on the Android platform. The new option allows them to ask or request someone else (family members, friends, etc.) to pay for the item on their behalf.
Users now have an additional option to "ask for money" when purchasing apps on Android.
After clicking the "Choose payment method" button, users will see a new option: "Ask someone else to pay." From here, the system will generate a payment link sent to the recipient via text message or email. Acceptance depends on the recipient and the proposed payment amount. This link expires after 24 hours and requires the payer to know the sender's email address accurately.
The recipient receives full notification of the name and cost of the application (or item, feature) for which payment was requested, and has the right to submit a refund request as a normal payment, provided it is within 48 hours of the transaction.
Google is expected to start rolling out this feature to Android users in India and will expand to other markets if it receives positive feedback. App developers don't need to change or modify their software or payment options, as Google will handle these adjustments.
