[Photo] Cuban artists bring "party" of classic excerpts from world ballet to Vietnam

On June 26 and 29, the National Ballet of Cuba (Ballet Nacional de Cuba) will perform on the stage of the Ho Guom Theater. This is a rare opportunity for art lovers to witness the unique fusion between Cuba's cultural heritage and classic works of world ballet.

Party and State leaders presented flowers to the artists of the Cuban National Ballet during their tour at the Ho Guom Theater ( Hanoi ).

This is the next program in the Musical Seasons international event series with excerpts from classic ballets such as Swan Lake, The Nutcracker..., along with some excerpts from plays with strong Cuban influences.

All performances of the "Cuba Ballet" program are performed by artists of the National Ballet of Cuba (Ballet Nacional de Cuba) - one of the most famous ballet companies in the world today.

Founded in 1948 by legendary ballerinas Alicia Alonso, Fernando Alonso and Alberto Alonso, in over 75 years of operation, the Company has toured on famous stages around the world, winning many prestigious awards such as the Grand Prix de la Ville de Paris or the "Félix Varela" Medal of the Republic of Cuba.

Alicia Alonso (1920-2019) is a world ballet legend and cultural icon of the island nation of Cuba. By skillfully combining classical techniques with the strength and spirit typical of the people of the "heroic island", she created a unique Cuban ballet style and contributed to shaping the world ballet art.

Today, Ballet Nacional de Cuba continues to maintain and develop an artistic approach that respects tradition under the leadership of artist Viengsay Valdés as Artistic Director and "Prima bailarina" of the Troupe (a term referring to the main female dancer in an art troupe-PV).

Born in the Cuban capital of Havana, Viengsay Valdés began her dance studies at the "Alejo Carpentier" Ballet Elementary School and graduated with honors in 1994. Soon after, she joined the national dance troupe, and became Primera bailarina in 2001.

With over 30 years of dedication to the art of ballet, winning a series of large and small awards at home and abroad, Viengsay Valdés is the embodiment of the combination of skillful techniques, contributing to bringing Cuban dance to the international level.

In addition, among the artists participating in this tour in Vietnam, art lovers will also have the opportunity to enjoy works through performances by many names that are the pride of the National Ballet of Cuba such as Dani Hernández, Ányelo Montero, Anette Delgado, Sadaise Arencibia, Yankiel Vázquez...

Returning to the National Ballet of Cuba, with its recognition as a National Cultural Heritage, the troupe has continued its mission of preserving and developing ballet art, bringing the audience unique works and memorable artistic experiences through each performance.

It is known that the National Ballet of Cuba has performed in a total of 62 countries on 5 continents, building a repertoire of more than 700 works. Notably, many of these are new works.

In 2018, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Cuba recognized the National Ballet of Cuba as a National Cultural Heritage to honor the great contributions of the Group in preserving and developing the art of dance.

A large number of Vietnamese audiences came to enjoy the special art program, imbued with Vietnam-Cuba friendship.
