Good news from cruise ships

There are many more flights coming in the last months of the year.

Since the beginning of the year, Khanh Hoa has welcomed 18 cruise ships with 21,000 international visitors. Most recently, on October 6, the Star Voyager ship carrying 1,000 tourists docked at Cam Ranh International Port, taking visitors to explore the land of Agarwood. According to information from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, from now until the end of 2025, Khanh Hoa will welcome 13 more cruise ships with about 17,000 visitors. These are all luxury cruise ships that are familiar to Khanh Hoa such as: Discovery Princess, Seven Seas Explorer, Norwegian Spirit and Celebrity Solstice... Mr. Cung Quynh Anh - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said: "The continuous arrival of cruise ships to Khanh Hoa shows a positive signal for the recovery and development of cruise tourism activities in Khanh Hoa. The recovery of cruise tourism contributes significantly to the success of the local tourism industry, especially in promoting the image of Khanh Hoa to international tourists".

The traditional cruise tourism season usually lasts from October to April of the following year. However, in recent years, the number of tourists even in the low season has tended to increase, showing the growing attraction of Vietnam in general and Khanh Hoa in particular to this type of tourist. A significant positive signal for Khanh Hoa tourism is that along with Cam Ranh International Port, Ana Marina Nha Trang International Cruise Terminal (Northern Nha Trang Ward) has been licensed to receive international cruise ships. Currently, some ships such as Norwegian Spirit, Celebrity Solstice... have registered to bring passengers to this port. Mr. Do Thanh Long - Director of Hai Dang Nha Trang Maritime Agency Co., Ltd. shared: "Together with Cam Ranh International Port, Ana Marina Nha Trang Cruise Terminal is licensed to receive international cruise ships, helping Khanh Hoa tourism industry to have the conditions to attract cruise tourists".

Continue to improve service quality

Khanh Hoa is considered one of the localities with many advantages to exploit cruise tourism with favorable geographical location, beautiful natural landscape, rich cultural heritage and increasingly complete tourism infrastructure. With the current positive signals, if invested synchronously and with a long-term strategy, cruise tourism can completely become one of Khanh Hoa's strengths, contributing to enhancing the position of the locality on the international tourism map.

To exploit the potential of cruise tourism, according to tourism experts, Khanh Hoa needs to accelerate the construction of new or upgrade Nha Trang Port into a specialized tourist port to be able to receive large ships right in the Nha Trang area - the "tourism heart" of Khanh Hoa. At the same time, the province also needs to promote the image of Khanh Hoa at international cruise tourism fairs; develop attractive incentive programs for shipping lines and tourists; diversify products serving cruise tourists; improve the capacity of multilingual tour guides, improve service quality at tourist attractions, restaurants and souvenir shops. Regarding tourism products, it is necessary to continue to diversify tours with flexible durations from 4 to 8 hours, suitable for ship schedules. In particular, focus on developing unique cultural experience tours such as: Traditional craft villages, local cuisine, folk arts...

Regarding products serving cruise ship passengers, Mr. Bui Minh Thang - Director of Phuong Thang Service, Tourism and Trade Company Limited (one of the tour organizers serving cruise ship passengers) shared: “Due to the short stopover time, guests often prioritize famous tourist attractions; European and American tourists especially like to experience local culture and cuisine. The company often sells cyclo tours, visiting relics and famous landscapes of Nha Trang (City tour), cycling to explore the countryside, visiting Truong Son Craft Village, Nha Trang Ancient Craft Village... Recently, the company has diversified its cruise ship tour products, including new activities such as: Rowing basket boats on Cai River Nha Trang to create a difference and attract tourists".

After the difficulties, the reception of cruise ships to Khanh Hoa is gradually recovering. Currently, a number of shipping agents have registered to receive cruise ships in 2026 and 2027. According to Mr. Do Thanh Long, many shipping lines have returned, it is likely that the number of cruise ships visiting Khanh Hoa in 2026 will be higher than in 2025.
