Mr. Vu Trong Lam, Director - Editor-in-Chief of the National Political Publishing House Truth, commented: “His language is not flashy, not formulaic, but imbued with intelligence, emotion and power to move. It is the language of revolution, of conscience, of steadfast belief in the revolutionary cause and the strength of the masses.”

Two books on Vietnamese revolutionary journalism published by the Truth National Political Publishing House

The book is divided into three important historical periods: the period of resistance against the French (1951-1954), the construction of the socialist North (1955-1959) and the period of resistance against the US (1960-1969). With more than 170 pen names, two-thirds of which were used in articles, each name is an incarnation, a message, expressing the height of his ideology.

In each period, the articles showed the sense of responsibility, morality and bravery of the writer and the soldier. Reading his articles, we deeply understand that he wrote not only with the sharp thinking of a revolutionary, but also with a passionate patriotic heart and the intelligence of a great cultural figure.

The value of the book does not stop there. Mr. Nguyen Van Bac, former Head of the Party Building Department, Nhan Dan Newspaper, emphasized: “Not only is it a valuable document for journalists, the book is also a useful reference source for cadres doing Party work, Party cell activities, teaching in schools or researching journalism. Journalism students can consider this as an academic document when writing their graduation thesis.”

Inspiration for modern journalism

Along with the above publication, the book "The Press Must First Serve the Revolution and the People" published by the Truth National Political Publishing House on this occasion is a collection of 40 typical works from articles, letters, telegrams, to appeals of President Ho Chi Minh from 1922 to 1962.

The book is the crystallization of guiding thoughts throughout the journalism profession. In it, he always reminds: “Write for whom? Write for what? How to write?” for easy understanding, easy to remember, easy to follow - three simple questions but are the guiding principles for every generation of journalists.

President Ho Chi Minh always demanded authenticity, concreteness, and close connection with reality and people's lives, and did not accept formalistic, dogmatic, or stereotyped journalism. According to him, journalists are revolutionary soldiers, "pen and paper are sharp weapons". Therefore, journalists must have a firm political stance, revolutionary ethics, and high responsibility for every word they write.

Both books are valuable documents not only for learning but also strongly inspiring for today's generation of journalists, especially in the context of journalism facing many challenges such as fake news, social networks and pressure to commercialize information.

Under the light of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, the Vietnamese revolutionary press is oriented towards a "professional - humane - modern" press, always maintaining its stance, ethics and being close to the masses. The press must truthfully reflect life, serve the revolutionary cause and serve the people.

These values, through these two publications, are once again vividly recreated, affirming the stature and great legacy of President Ho Chi Minh - the founder and leader of Vietnam's revolutionary journalism. This is not only a precious spiritual gift on the occasion of the great anniversary, but also a profound reminder of the noble mission of journalism: serving the country and the people.

On the occasion of launching the book "Articles on culture and journalism by Uncle Ho" in Nhan Dan Newspaper, Nhan Dan Newspaper introduced publications and activities to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, including: a special issue on June 21, 2025 with 5 parts covering the history and future of journalism; the publication "Imprints & Trends" summarizing 100 important milestones of Vietnam's revolutionary journalism and forecasting journalism movements in the AI era; opening an exhibition of press documents and artifacts through the ages...
