Da Bac A hamlet is at risk of losing its summer-autumn crop due to subsidence and landslides.

In Da Bac hamlet (Da Bac commune), the Cua Ga Sau Dan canal road, which was recently put into use, has suffered serious subsidence. Besides concerns about the road, local residents are also worried about losing their upcoming summer rice crop if landslides continue, causing soil and rocks to spill into the canal, the only water source for agricultural production in the area.

The Cua Ga Sau Dan canal road (Da Bac A hamlet, Da Bac commune) was inaugurated and put into use during the Lunar New Year of 2026. However, after only a few months, the road has suffered serious subsidence.

The entire route, over 600 meters long, has numerous areas of subsidence, landslides, and potential landslides, causing the road to be almost completely deformed.

A feeling of disappointment and regret is the common sentiment among residents living along the route. Mr. Ly Hoang Linh (Da Bac commune) shared: “On the day the road was completed, everyone was excited, thinking that from now on, traveling and transporting agricultural products would be easier. But the joy didn't last long; the road cracked and collapsed into the canal. Seeing the road in such a dilapidated state is heartbreaking.”

There is a section that has collapsed nearly 2 meters below the road surface, posing a potential safety risk to road users.

Observations reveal that many sections of the road have subsided significantly, with the concrete structure breaking into large chunks, and deep cavities carved into the road surface, creating dangerous potholes.

Mr. Le Thanh Hoang (Da Bac A hamlet) expressed his concern: "The current road surface is very difficult to navigate; just a slight misstep and both people and vehicles could fall into the pothole at any time, especially at night when visibility is limited."

The only canal serving the summer-autumn rice crop for farmers in Da Bac A hamlet is being directly threatened by a road subsidence incident.

Furthermore, the canal running along this road is the only water source for the upcoming summer-autumn rice crop. If the subsidence is not stopped in time, soil and rocks will spill into the canal, causing sedimentation, and the risk of production disruption and crop failure is unavoidable.

Mr. Le Phu Yen (Da Bac A hamlet) expressed his anxiety: “The water in this canal is the only source of water for the entire rice field here. According to the planting schedule, farmers must finish planting before April 10th (lunar calendar). Now, with this landslide, it's very difficult to get water. If the rice seedlings, planted about 10 days ago, don't receive additional water, farmers will suffer heavy losses. The people here depend on rice cultivation; if they can't get water for farming, it's like losing the whole crop.”

The cracks have created large gaps, posing a risk of complete collapse at any moment.

Mr. Nguyen Canh Hanh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Bac commune, said: "The road was recently invested in, but the erosion is occurring too quickly. Currently, we are under great pressure to find technical solutions and balance the capital for maintenance and repair. The locality urgently needs timely support from higher levels to quickly overcome this situation."

Road subsidence is making travel difficult for residents.

The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Bac commune also informed that this section of road is a construction project still under warranty, and the construction unit has committed to restoring it to its original condition.
