Apple has just released iOS 18.3, iPadOS 18.3, macOS Sequoia 15.3, automatically enabling Apple Intelligence and patching more than 20 security vulnerabilities.
Apple Intelligence will be enabled by default on supported devices after installing iOS 18.3. However, Apple has disabled the AI summarization feature for news apps. Earlier this month, several news organizations discovered that Apple's AI content summarization feature had serious flaws.
iOS 18.3 is a major milestone in the rollout of Apple's AI suite of features. Previously, iPhone 15 Pro, Pro Max, and iPhone 16 series users were instructed to manually enable Apple Intelligence when setting up their phones.
With iOS 18.3, the number of Apple Intelligence users could increase. Apple advertises a suite of features that include the ability to edit, create images, and summarize email and message threads.
Additionally, according to Apple's security support document, the company was notified of a vulnerability called CoreMedia that could be exploited in versions prior to iOS 17.2. The iPhone maker has addressed the issue.
Apple also patched more than 20 other security vulnerabilities, including one that allowed attackers to access the Photos app on an iPhone even when the device was locked. Several other AirPlay vulnerabilities allowed attackers to execute code or crash apps.
Due to the number of vulnerabilities patched in iOS 18.3, users should download it now to stay safe. To upgrade, go to Settings > General > Software Update.
