Apple is planning to re-enter the artificial intelligence race with a series of new products, from desktop robots, Siri assistants, smart displays to home security cameras. The company's AI strategy for 2027 is focused on desktop robots that double as virtual companions.
This is seen as an attempt to refresh its image after the failure of the Vision Pro mixed reality glasses in sales, and the design of its main product lines has changed little in recent years. Apple is also considered to be late to the wave of creative AI, while OpenAI and former design chief Jony Ive are collaborating to develop new AI devices.
Apple's desktop robot has an iPad-like screen mounted on a moving axis, can rotate in the direction of the speaker and actively attract attention. The device supports work, entertainment, task management, FaceTime calls with the ability to lock on the person opposite and control remotely via iPhone.
The highlight is the new version of Siri, which can participate in group conversations, remember information and proactively suggest. This tool will be deeply integrated into the operating system, with "personality" and intuitive interaction capabilities, similar to the previous animated assistant Clippy.
In addition to robots, Apple is developing a smart display that is expected to launch in mid-2026, codenamed J490. This product is a compact version of the robot, supporting control of household items, playing music, taking notes, browsing the web, video conferencing and supporting the new Siri interface. Both devices run the Charismatic operating system, supporting multiple users with the ability to automatically recognize faces and customize the interface.
Apple is also preparing to improve Siri with a version called Linwood, which uses a large language model to process queries based on personal data. The LLM Siri version could debut as early as next spring, while a completely redesigned version is expected to arrive in 2026. The tech giant is also experimenting with outside AI technology.
In addition to AI, Apple is also developing a thinner iPhone to be launched in 2025, smart glasses, foldable phones, 20th anniversary iPhone, N100 headphones, and large foldable screen devices.
AI products are expected to become a new growth driver, helping Apple compete with Samsung, Meta and Google.
