Arsenal were linked with a move for Eberechi Eze last month. Gunners director Andrea Berta held direct talks with the England winger's representatives.

A source close to Eze said he also wanted to join Arsenal. But in the end, the London team did not pursue him to the end.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said Arsenal withdrew from the Eze deal because coach Arteta was satisfied with the current squad in attack.

So now Tottenham is the team that benefits when "single-handedly" attracting the winger of Crystal Palace.

SunSport reported that last weekend, Spurs' leadership sent an official offer worth £60 million to buy Eze.

However, Crystal Palace immediately refused because they expected to be able to sell their mainstay for over 68 million pounds.

Eze's potential departure in the final days of the summer transfer window depends on whether Palace can find a suitable replacement.

They are currently pursuing Leicester's Bilal El Khannouss and Club Brugge's Christos Tzolis.
