Chinese automaker BYD has just officially introduced the Atto 1 small electric car at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2025. This is essentially a renamed version of the Seagull or Dolphin model in some markets. BYD Atto 1 is BYD's smallest electric car in Indonesia, smaller than Dolphin. The car is 3,925 mm long, 1,720 mm wide, 1,590 mm high, and has a wheelbase of 2,500 mm, making it more spacious than A-class cars in Vietnam such as Hyundai Grand i10, Kia Morning, or Vinfast Fadil.
Standard equipment on the Atto 1 includes 16-inch alloy wheels with 185/55 tires, automatic LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, keyless entry and start. The car is equipped with a digital key that supports NFC and Bluetooth, a 7-inch digital display for the dashboard, a 10.1-inch central touchscreen with wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, 4 speakers and single-zone air conditioning. The Premium version is equipped with a 4-way adjustable steering wheel (Dynamic version only has tilt adjustment), electric driver's seat (Dynamic version has manual adjustment), wireless phone charger and one-touch anti-jam driver's window. Notably, the Premium version has 6 airbags (front, side and curtain) while the Dynamic version only has 4 airbags due to the lack of side airbags.
Both versions have ISOFIX child seat anchors, tire pressure warning system, rear camera, rear sensors, electronic handbrake, passive cruise control, and basic safety systems such as electronic balance (ESC), anti-lock braking system (ABS), brake force distribution (EBD), traction control (TCS), hill start assist (HSA). However, no advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) is equipped for the Atto 1 in the Indonesian market. The standard version, called Standard Range Dynamic, is equipped with a Blade-type lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery developed by BYD, with a capacity of 30.08 kWh, for a maximum operating range of 300 km according to NEDC standards. Meanwhile, the higher version, Long Range Premium, priced at 235 million Rupiah (about 375 million VND), uses a larger battery pack with a capacity of 38.88 kWh, allowing the car to run a maximum of 380 km. Both versions support AC charging at a maximum power of 6.6 kW and DC fast charging at 30 kW (Dynamic) or 40 kW (Premium). V2L (using electricity from the car to charge other devices) is also equipped as standard.
The powertrain uses a front-mounted electric motor, producing 75 PS (74 horsepower or 55 kW) and 135 Nm of torque, helping the car accelerate from 0–50 km/h in 4.9 seconds, with a top speed of 130 km/h. This is BYD's cheapest electric car in Indonesia, significantly cheaper than the BYD Dolphin model, which costs from 369 million Rupiah (about 588 million VND) to 429 million Rupiah (about 684 million VND). The car is available in three exterior color options: Sprout Green, Cosmos Black and Apricity White, all paired with a two-tone black and gray interior. Warranty policies include: 6 years/150,000 km vehicle warranty, 8 years/160,000 km battery and 8 years/150,000 km powertrain warranty.
