Searching for the person who spread the rumor that Ban Ve hydroelectric dam broke

On the evening of July 27, Mr. Nguyen Truong Thanh, Chief of Office of the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Nghe An province, affirmed that there was no such thing as the Ban Ve hydropower dam breaking. This is a false rumor. Currently, the police are investigating the person spreading this rumor.

On the afternoon of July 27, because of false rumors that the Ban Ve hydroelectric dam had broken, many people in the area were panicked, some fled to the mountains.

Faced with this situation, the authorities of Nghe An province quickly took action. In the short term, they will spread propaganda to let people know that the information about the dam collapse is just a false rumor. In the long term, they will investigate and strictly handle those who spread this rumor.

Mr. Ta Huu Hung, Director of Ban Ve Hydropower Plant, also used his personal Facebook page to live stream the situation at the hydropower dam, thereby helping people feel secure and return home.
