On May 13, in the ongoing joint effort between Australia and Vietnam to promote innovation in the agricultural sector, the Australian Government's Aus4Innovation program officially announced the 5th funding round of the Innovation Partnership Fund with a total support budget of 2 million AUD.
With the theme “High-tech innovation to respond to climate change in agriculture towards inclusive growth”, this funding round focuses on harnessing technology to respond to the impacts of climate change in agriculture. This theme also contributes to the overall goal of the Aus4Innovation program to promote sustainable and inclusive development of the innovation ecosystem in Vietnam.
The Fund commits to providing financial support of AUD 300,000 to AUD 700,000 for each competitively selected project, thereby promoting cooperation between innovation pioneers from the two countries.
In the previous four funding rounds, the Fund has supported 15 projects, of which 12 have been completed and 3 are ongoing, delivering practical results and innovative solutions for social progress in agricultural practices.
“Australia is committed to supporting Vietnam’s economic growth and innovation in agriculture is an important part of this effort,” said Ms. Gillian Bird, Australian Ambassador to Vietnam.
“Through these grants, we aim to contribute to enhancing the capacity of Vietnam’s agricultural sector to respond to the increasingly severe challenges of climate change, while affirming our commitment to sustainable and inclusive development.”
Sharing this view, Mr. Bui The Duy, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology of Vietnam said: “This meaningful support from the Aus4Innovation program is helping Vietnamese researchers, scientists and businesses to overcome the limits of technology, turning creative ideas into specific solutions with wide applicability".
This funding round is an important step towards sustainability and climate resilience in agricultural practices, thereby effectively leveraging the opportunities brought by technology and innovation, Mr. Bui The Duy emphasized.
The deadline for submitting applications for funding is June 24.
