The Ministry of Health requires adequate reserves and supply of drugs to prevent epidemics.

The Ministry of Health requires drug production, trading and import establishments to prepare a source of quality drugs at reasonable prices to prioritize adequate and timely supply for disease prevention and control needs.

On August 2, the Ministry of Health informed that the Drug Administration of Vietnam had sent a document to the Department of Health of provinces and cities; drug import and production facilities on ensuring drug supply during the 2025 flood season.

In order to promptly overcome the consequences of storm No. 3 and always be ready and proactive in preparing resources to effectively respond to the upcoming 2025 storm season, the Drug Administration of Vietnam requests the Department of Health of provinces and cities to direct drug production, trading and import establishments in the area to have plans to reserve and supply adequate and timely drugs for treatment needs, especially ensuring the drug base for disease prevention and control according to the diagnosis and treatment guidelines and other guidelines of the Ministry of Health; avoid drug shortages and drug price fluctuations.

Local medical facilities proactively make a list of essential medicines for people, promptly plan, order and purchase additional medicines, and reserve them, ensuring there are enough medicines to serve medical situations affected by storms, floods, and epidemics.

The Department of Health shall promptly report to the Ministry of Health (Department of Drug Administration, Department of Planning and Finance) in case of a risk of shortage of drugs for the prevention and treatment of diseases that may arise after floods in the area.

For establishments producing, trading and importing drugs, it is necessary to prepare a source of drugs with quality and reasonable prices to prioritize adequate and timely supply for the needs of disease prevention and control.

The Drug Administration of Vietnam said it will prioritize and consider handling according to regulations the import orders for drugs and pharmaceutical ingredients that do not have circulation registration certificates to meet urgent needs in disease prevention and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters and catastrophes./.
