Vietnam and Cuba exchange views on the leading role of the Party in macroeconomic stability.

The two sides organized an online seminar on the theme "The Party's leadership role in ensuring macroeconomic stability, innovating the growth model, restructuring the economy, and international integration."

On the evening of December 11th, the Central Policy and Strategy Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Central Economic and Production Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba held an online seminar on the theme "The leading role of the Party in ensuring macroeconomic stability, reforming the growth model, restructuring the economy and international integration."

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Head of the Central Committee's Policy and Strategy Department, and Mr. Jorge Luis Broche Lorenzo, Secretary of the Central Committee and Head of the Central Committee's Economic and Production Department of the Communist Party of Cuba, co-chaired the seminar.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi emphasized that the workshop was a concrete step in implementing the cooperation agreement between the two Committees signed in 2024, and also in implementing the contents of the Vietnam-Cuba Joint Statement of September 2025 on strengthening theoretical exchange and sharing experiences in leadership for socio-economic development.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi affirmed that Vietnam always values ​​the special solidarity and friendship with Cuba. This conference is of practical significance in the context of the two countries jointly implementing major strategic directions on reforming the growth model, developing a multi-sector economy, and deeply integrating into the international community.

At the workshop, Cuban delegates exchanged experiences in macroeconomic stability, production restructuring, improving the overall balance of the economy, developing state-owned enterprises, increasing labor productivity, and promoting the role of science and technology in innovating the development model.

Cuba also shared its efforts to overcome difficulties caused by the embargo, boost production in priority sectors, strengthen decentralization while tightening discipline and order, and implement fiscal and monetary policies to control inflation and ensure social security.

Vietnam's presentations focused on analyzing the orientation of innovation in the growth model towards in-depth development, shifting from quantitative growth to growth based on productivity, science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation; promoting the development of economic sectors in accordance with the spirit of the Party's 13th National Congress Resolution and Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW dated May 4, 2025, of the Politburo on the development of the private economy; continuing to maintain macroeconomic stability, consolidating major balances, and enhancing the resilience of the economy; and proactively and actively implementing a comprehensive and in-depth international integration policy in line with national interests.

The discussions also shared experiences in leading institutional reforms, improving development policies, promoting the proactive role of localities and businesses, fostering regional linkages, and developing the digital economy, green economy, and circular economy.

During the discussion, both sides exchanged in-depth views on the Party's leadership, guidance, supervision, and strategic coordination role in economic management; methods for implementing economic restructuring programs linked to innovation in the growth model; solutions for responding to global economic fluctuations, addressing challenges related to inflation and global trade volatility; and building a strategic advisory organizational structure to ensure the Party's comprehensive leadership in the new context.

In his concluding remarks, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi highly appreciated the frank, open, and substantive spirit of exchange among the delegates; affirming that the shared content not only helped the two Committees better understand each country's development orientation but also opened up new avenues of cooperation in research, strategic planning, and mutual support in implementing socio-economic development tasks.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi emphasized that the seminar contributed to deepening the special solidarity and friendship between the two Parties, two States, and the people of Vietnam and Cuba; it is a vivid testament to the political trust and close cooperation between the two strategic planning agencies.

The workshop concluded successfully, creating further impetus for cooperation in theoretical research, sharing leadership experiences, and developing Party policies. It is an important step in the cooperation program between the two Committees, contributing to strengthening the comprehensive friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba in the new development phase.
