On March 30, the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province held a conference to deploy the provincial planning for the period 2021-2030 with a vision to 2050, and the Investment Promotion Program for 2024.
Attending the Conference were Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and representatives of ministries, branches, representatives of provinces in the Southeast region, diplomatic agencies of countries, organizations, associations and representatives of more than 210 businesses and investors.
The conference fully announced the basic and core contents of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 through images, visually introducing the potential, advantages and opportunities of Ba Ria - Vung Tau. Along with the presentations of managers and experts on feasibility, opportunities and challenges, orientations and solutions to realize the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Planning.
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha acknowledged, highly appreciated and commended the achievements that Ba Ria - Vung Tau has achieved in recent times such as an average growth of 5.94%/year in the period 2021-2023; economic scale in 2023 reaching more than 366,000 billion VND; average GRDP reaching over 8,000 USD/person (nearly double the national average).
The locality has attracted hundreds of foreign investment projects, with a total registered capital of more than 30 billion USD (ranking 3rd in the country). Traffic infrastructure is increasingly complete and has remarkable development...
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the announced planning will open up development space, creating a new breakthrough momentum for Ba Ria - Vung Tau to develop strongly. In the near future, people will enjoy high-quality social services, live in a clean and safe environment; good cultural identity values will be preserved and promoted.
"However, Ba Ria - Vung Tau needs to learn from the development lessons of coastal cities to become not only a place worth investing in, but also a place worth living and experiencing," Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasized.
On this occasion, Ba Ria - Vung Tau also organized the awarding of Investment Policy Decisions/Investment Registration Certificates to 10 domestic investment projects and 5 foreign investment projects.
Pioneering in energy transition
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, green energy and digital transformation infrastructure will attract large investors to Ba Ria - Vung Tau. With the mission of the locality that used to be the cradle of the oil and gas industry, it is necessary to inherit the tradition and soon make Ba Ria - Vung Tau a pioneer in energy transformation.
The oil and gas industry will also be the industry that creates and builds high-quality human resources in the area.
The province needs to have a roadmap to green its economic sectors and should choose the oil and gas industry, the stronghold of this industry, to build a center for the renewable energy industry, and the Government will choose and assign tasks to the oil and gas industry to convert fossil energy to renewable circular energy such as offshore wind power and solar power.
Localities also need to quickly deploy and pioneer a number of pilot projects, helping the whole country build models into places to protect national security and sovereignty; or logistics for the aquaculture industry with high technology; or develop spearhead tourism in a sustainable and green direction.
"There are great advantages and potentials to compete and develop industry and gateway ports. At the same time, nature, culture, history and people also give Ba Ria - Vung Tau endless resources and attractive destinations. Therefore, we must balance and harmonize in development. The planning objectives need to be invested in a systematic manner and there must be a choice between developing industry, trade and services", Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasized.
With Cai Mep - Thi Vai area being the only seaport in the country, this is a great opportunity for Ba Ria - Vung Tau to clearly define the shape of the free trade zone. This is one of the premises for the locality to develop and help the whole country to research and build models, create related mechanisms and scientific and technical foundations.
The planning of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, approved by the Prime Minister, has detailed the main goals and tasks of the province in the coming time.
