
According to monitoring data, some stations recorded rainfall of over 70 mm such as: Minh Thanh ( Cao Bang ), Cong Lan (Hung Yen), Xuan Minh 2 (Tuyen Quang), Chi Thanh (Dak Lak), Tan Phuong 2 (Lao Cai) and Sa Rai (Dong Thap) with the highest rainfall reaching 72.6 mm.
It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, the area from Quang Tri to Khanh Hoa and the South will continue to have scattered showers and thunderstorms; total rainfall is generally 15-30 mm, locally over 70 mm. Rain will mainly concentrate in the afternoon and evening, especially in the South. Some places may have heavy rain, reaching over 50 mm in 6 hours.
In the Northern Delta region, on the morning of October 16, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms, with rainfall ranging from 10 to 30 mm, with some places receiving over 70 mm. Thunderstorms may include tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind.
The meteorological agency warned that localized heavy rains could cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides in mountainous areas and flooding in low-lying areas and urban areas. People living in mountainous areas, along streams and rivers should be on guard against the risk of landslides and flash floods that can occur suddenly.
At sea, on the day and night of October 16, the sea area from Quang Tri to Ca Mau, from Ca Mau to An Giang , the Gulf of Thailand and the southern part of the East Sea (including the Truong Sa sea area) will have scattered showers and thunderstorms. During the thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, strong gusts of wind of level 6-7, and waves over 2 meters high.
Authorities recommend that all vessels operating in the above area should closely monitor weather forecasts and warnings to proactively prevent and ensure safety for people and vehicles at sea.
