On the afternoon of January 16th, the Steering Committee for the Elimination of Temporary and Dilapidated Houses in Bac Lieu City held a ceremony to hand over houses and present Tet gifts to poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged households in the city.
At the ceremony, Ms. Lam Bich Niem, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Bac Lieu City, and Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the City's Steering Committee for the "Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses" Program (hereinafter referred to as the Steering Committee), provided a brief update on the implementation and results of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the area.

Based on the plan of the Steering Committee of the wards and communes, a review was conducted among 43 poor households and 230 near-poor households, including 27 poor and near-poor households facing housing difficulties, who are eligible for house construction in this phase.
Immediately afterwards, the Steering Committee promptly implemented the construction of 27 houses, of which 10 received a subsidy of 70 million VND, and the remaining houses received a subsidy of 60 million VND each (50 million VND from the central government and 10 million VND from the provincial "For the Poor" Fund).

Thanks to the efforts and determination of the Steering Committee, various departments, and all levels of government, the city has now completed the construction program for all 27 houses in time, allowing residents to celebrate the Lunar New Year in their new, spacious, and warm homes.

On this occasion, the Steering Committee presented symbolic handover plaques for 27 houses to disadvantaged families; and distributed 100 Tet gifts to people classified as poor, near-poor, or in difficult circumstances, each gift worth 1 million VND, including 700,000 VND in cash and gifts worth 300,000 VND.
