Bac Ninh: Extreme heat forces farmers to harvest rice at night.

BAC NINH - To avoid the scorching heat during the day, farmers in some localities in Bac Ninh province choose to harvest rice at night.

In recent days, daytime temperatures have sometimes reached 40 degrees Celsius. This is the time when the spring rice harvest begins, so the heat has made things extremely difficult for farmers.

To avoid the heat, many farmers have chosen to harvest their crops at night. By May 27th, the entire province had harvested 13,000 hectares of rice, reaching approximately 15% of the planted area, with an average yield of 64 quintals/hectare, nearly 1.5 quintals/hectare higher than the spring crop of 2025.

Farmers in Hiep Hoa commune are beginning the spring rice harvest, striving to complete it before June 15th thanks to increased mechanization in the harvesting process.

Mr. Ngo Xuan Thong (far left), head of Vu Nong village, Xuan Cam commune, shared that this spring, the entire village planted nearly 80 hectares of rice, mainly TBR225 and Khang Dan 18 varieties... To date, farmers have harvested about 20% of the area, with an average yield of 62-63 quintals/hectare.

Instead of harvesting by hand, farmers in Xuan Cam commune use combine harvesters, choosing to harvest at night to reduce labor and shorten the harvest season.

This spring, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Lien's family (on the left), from Vu Nong village, Xuan Cam commune, planted over 9 sao (approximately 0.9 hectares) of rice. To date, her family has harvested 8 sao with a yield of 230 kg/sao.

Farmers in Xuan Cam commune are helping to load rice onto trucks to take it home. Instead of harvesting rice during the hot daytime, farmers will focus on drying the rice.

The joy of a successful spring harvest has eased the fatigue of rice harvesting for many farmers in Xuan Cam commune.

It was almost 10 PM, but the sounds of combine harvesters harvesting rice still echoed across the fields of Hiep Hoa commune.
