(NADS) - On the morning of October 2, Nam Ly Bridge - a key project in Thu Duc City - officially opened to traffic, marking an important step in reducing traffic congestion at the eastern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City.
The Nam Ly Bridge Project, managed by the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, started construction in October 2016 with a total investment of over VND731 billion. This project replaces Rach Chiec Dam, ensuring the smooth flow of Do Xuan Hop Street, connecting many residential areas and the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway.
According to Mr. Le Ngoc Hung, Deputy Director of the Management Board, Nam Ly Bridge not only plays an important role in connecting An Phu, Binh Trung Tay, Phuoc Long A, B, and Phuoc Binh wards, but also supports the transport of goods by water and land through the Rach Chiec waterway - a level 4 river planned to serve domestic traffic. In addition, the project not only helps improve the traffic network but is also a stepping stone for economic development and urban beautification in the eastern part of the city...
Site clearance, which was a major obstacle that delayed the project, was completed in April 2023. After that, construction units quickly gathered materials and equipment and completed the bridge and the access roads at both ends.
With the opening of Nam Ly Bridge today, people are hoping that traffic jams in the above area will be less severe, vehicles will travel through here more easily, and people will have more convenience when traveling to serve their studies, business, and trade...
It is known that the management agency will continue to complete the remaining items, including residential roads, and is expected to complete the entire project by December 2024.
