(VLO) Request for early implementation of two-component electricity price; Strong increase in mangosteen; Cheap imported soft-shell crab… are notable market information.
*Mangosteen increased sharply
On Facebook groups, traders and gardeners commonly advertise the price of green mangosteen mixed with chicken salad at 90,000 - 100,000 VND/kg retail, an increase of about 20% compared to last year. With peeled green mangosteen pulp, the price is 550,000 - 650,000 VND/kg, advertised as selected goods, large, juicy, crispy fruit.
*Cheap imported soft shell crab
Soft-shell crabs are a specialty of river regions and are quite rare on the market. Every year, this type is often priced twice as high as regular crabs.
However, recently, on online seafood markets or apartment residents' markets, they are being sold for 200,000-350,000 VND/kg (depending on size), equal to regular products and half as cheap as before. According to crab farmers, most of the soft-shell crabs on the market today are frozen, because domestic products are at the end of the season.
*Request early implementation of two-component electricity price
Currently, Vietnam applies a single-component price, which means payment is based on the amount of electricity used in a month. This calculation method is considered not to accurately reflect the costs incurred by the electricity industry (depreciation of assets, power lines, transformer stations, etc.) for each customer.
In a recent announcement, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha requested the Ministry of Industry and Trade and EVN to soon implement a two-component price, including calculation based on consumption output and registered capacity used in the month. According to this mechanism, customers will pay separately for each 1 kW of capacity they register with the supplier each month. When not fully used, they will have to pay the cost, instead of the electricity industry bearing the cost and recovering it through price adjustment as is currently the case.

*Snakehead fish price increased by 5,000 VND/kg

However, at the current price, if farmers sell, they will only break even or lose capital.
