Create a forum for voters and people to participate in giving advice on building their homeland.
Along with the Policy Roundtable Program, in this term, the Provincial People's Council continues to innovate its activities by organizing the Campaign " Voters give advice on building Long An homeland " with the aim of creating a forum for voters and people to participate in giving advice on building their homeland. According to information from the Provincial People's Council, the Campaign "Voters give advice on building Long An homeland" is organized to expand democracy, mobilize intelligence, listen to ideas and advice from all walks of life on innovative solutions, breakthroughs in socio-economic development, Party and government building.
At the same time, the movement also aims to arouse and promote the strength of solidarity, sense of responsibility, aspiration to rise up, love for the homeland, creativity, intellectual contribution, emotion and enthusiasm of the people to the development of the province.
Author Nguyen Thi Nhu Ngoc was awarded First Prize in the first "Voters give advice on building Long An homeland" campaign with the advice on building a system to monitor, report and evaluate the results of handling voters' opinions and recommendations.
From the initial idea, in 2023, the campaign was officially launched by the Provincial People's Council deeply and widely among all classes of people. Although it was the first time organized, the Campaign "Voters give advice on building Long An homeland" attracted 128 suggestions from 108 authors inside and outside the province.
Many authors participating in the campaign are cadres, civil servants, doctors, lawyers, and even farmers who have contributed ideas with the desire to contribute more voices and opinions to build their homeland. During the campaign, every 3 months, the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council classifies, synthesizes, and sends them to the Provincial People's Committee for research, application, deployment, and appropriate implementation of the suggestions in the management and operation of socio-economic development, and perfecting the state apparatus in the area.
At the same time, the suggestions were also sent to the Committees of the Provincial People's Council for research and consideration to put into monitoring and verification activities, and propose to build appropriate resolutions of the Provincial People's Council, contributing to promoting socio-economic development and ensuring security and national defense .
Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council - Mai Van Nhieu affirmed: "The campaign has truly created an official, open forum, ready at all times for voters, all classes of people and all cadres, civil servants, armed forces, union members and association members to express their ideas, enthusiasm, feelings, and participate in giving practical advice, anytime, anywhere.
The solutions through suggestions are a valuable source of ideas, helping the provincial authorities understand and grasp the aspirations of the people and mobilize the wisdom of society to put into resolutions, planning, plans, management and operation solutions, serving the goal of building a province of "Long An rich and strong - happy people - safe and civilized society - clean and strong government".
Diversify forms of interaction between People's Council and voters
Along with expanding democracy and creating forums for voters and people, during this term, the People's Council continues to innovate forms of supervision, interaction, listening, responding, and resolving voters' pressing issues. In particular, every year, the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council organizes at least 2 explanation sessions, 2 live and online Dialogue programs on mass media, publicizing the content, program, phone number and digital platforms to receive voters' opinions 5 days before the event; at the same time, receiving and selecting voters' opinions and having the relevant agencies respond right at the explanation and dialogue sessions taking place directly.
Since the beginning of the term, the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council has organized 15 activities of explanation and dialogue. Thereby, contributing to effectively resolving voters' recommendations; removing obstacles and overcoming limitations in the management and operation process in various fields. In particular, many issues directly related to people's lives and activities that have been repeatedly reported by voters and people have been included in explanation and dialogue activities such as electricity and water for production and daily life in rural areas; solutions to improve the efficiency of solid waste treatment; solutions to develop sustainable social housing and bird's nest houses; solutions to overcome the surplus and shortage of teachers in kindergartens and general schools; implementation of social insurance and health insurance policies; solutions to prevent and handle "black credit", improve the effectiveness of drug crime prevention and control, anti-smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods; improve the effectiveness of administrative and civil judgment enforcement.
Explanation and dialogue activities contribute to effectively resolving voters' petitions; removing obstacles and overcoming limitations in the management and operation process in various fields.
According to the assessment of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council, the organization of explanation and dialogue activities demonstrates the direct and continuous supervision of the People's Council, providing information and clarifying many issues related to socio-economic development, to the people, enhancing the sense of responsibility of People's Council delegates, promoting representative democracy and direct democracy of voters in expressing opinions, recommendations and responsibilities of functional agencies in solving major issues, urgent issues of concern to People's Council delegates and voters. Thereby, contributing to improving the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of People's Council activities, receiving high appreciation and support from all levels, sectors and voters in the province.
