The top two teams in each group and the eight best third-placed teams will qualify for the Round of 16.
In the event of a tie in points among multiple teams in the group stage, the tie-breaking criteria used for ranking are head-to-head performance (calculated separately based on points, goal difference, and the number of goals scored in direct matches between the tied teams). If two teams are tied in all of the above criteria, the organizers will consider the goal difference and the total number of goals scored in all three matches.
When all other tie-breaking criteria are irrelevant, the teams are ranked according to their position on the latest FIFA World Rankings.

Ivory Coast returns to the World Cup after a two-time absence. Previously, they had participated in the tournament three times in a row in 2006, 2010, and 2014, but never advanced beyond the group stage.
The Ivory Coast national team is ranked 34th in the FIFA rankings. They qualified from the African qualifiers as winners of Group F (8 wins, 2 draws, 25 goals scored and none conceded), ahead of Gabon, Gambia, Kenya, Burundi and Seychelles.

Ecuador
Ecuador finished second in the South American qualifying round for the 2026 World Cup (behind only Argentina). This marks their fifth appearance at the world's most prestigious tournament (their best performance was reaching the round of 16 in 2006).
Ecuador is currently ranked 23rd in the FIFA rankings.
Curacao
Curacao qualified for the World Cup for the first time in history. The team was undefeated in the North, Central America and Caribbean qualifying round (3 wins, 3 draws, 13 goals scored and only 3 goals conceded against Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, and Bermuda).
In the FIFA rankings, Curacao is currently ranked 82nd, making it one of the lowest-ranked teams at the 2026 World Cup.
