Mekong Delta Annual Economic Report 2024: Mobilizing investment for sustainable development

Policies must create a difference that is attractive enough to attract businesses to invest in the Mekong Delta.

This is the first regional-level report in the country conducted annually with the aim of contributing to promoting the socio -economic development of the Mekong Delta. The annual research results of the report have been highly appreciated by central agencies, researchers and international organizations and used in planning, discussion and policy development. At the same time, the report is used by the authorities of the provinces and cities of the Mekong Delta in policy development and local economic management.

A consistent theme of the annual reports points to underinvestment and inefficiency as the key cause of the downward spiral and the backwardness of the Mekong Delta. Investment capital has been mentioned as a solution to the weaknesses of the Mekong Delta, but detailed assessments have been lacking. Following the research results, the 2024 Report with the focus on “Mobilizing Investment for Sustainable Development” focuses on the issues of resources, needs and efficiency as well as investment challenges of the Mekong Delta. Thereby, the report proposes appropriate policy recommendations for stakeholders to realize the potential of the region.

After more than a year of perseverance and effort with the participation of leading experts in economics, policy, finance, etc., the report has been completed and will be published to provide the most complete information on the investment and economic situation in the Mekong Delta region.
